Shooting upright, Beth placed her hand on her chest and felt her heart beating rapidly against her ribcage. As she attempted to slow her breathing, she pushed her sweat covered hair out of her eyes and off her forehead. When she had regained a steady breathing rate, Beth pushed the sweat covered duvet off her body and headed into the shower in an attempt to cool down. Instead of setting it to warm, Beth blasted cold water onto herself, clothes and all. She didn't see the point in getting out of them if they were going into the wash anyway.
As she stood in the shower, Beth thought back to the dream and began to wonder whether it was real, or just a dream. The idea of it being real was just abnormal. There was no way a demon would assist a Shadowhunter when they had such a violent history. "It just doesn't make sense!" Beth practically yelled, she was tempted to slam her hands against the wall of the shower, but she knew how much it would hurt. Instead, she decided to talk to Jonathan and hear his opinion on what she had witnessed.
Turning off the shower, she stripped out of her now soaking pyjamas and changed into her normal attire of dark, skinny jeans and T-Shirt. Beth grabbed her dagger from under her pillow and shoved it into her boot. She slipped from her room and into the next one, not making a sound as she shut Jonathan's door behind her. "Jonathan, wake up," she said, shaking his shoulder slightly. Discovering that he wasn't going to wake, she changed tactics and began beating him with a discarded pillow she had found on the floor. "Wake up!"
"Woah! Beth, stop!" Jonathan said, suddenly alert and aware of what she was doing. He grabbed the pillow from her grasp and beat her with it for a second before throwing it back onto the floor. Beth stood back for a second and took in his overall appearance. His hair was dishevelled to the point that he was almost unrecognisable. His borrowed pyjama top hung low on his chest and his face was covered in red lines from laying on the corner of the pillow. "Why did you just assault with a pillow?" He asked, rubbing his eyes with his palms.
"I tried shaking your shoulder, but you weren't budging. The pillow was the only other option," Beth shrugged as she made herself comfortable at the end of his bed.
"So, why did you wake me up?"
"Oh, right, I had a strange dream," she stated, her hand resting on his shoulder.
"And?" He pressed. He looked at Beth for a moment and took in the fact she was fully dressed and looked as though she had just come out of the shower.
"It was about Lilith," she began, "and the Rouges." Jonathan furrowed his brows in confusion, but then it clicked.
"Lilith is the one controlling the Rouges?" He asked, looking at her questionably. He had wondered about the identity of the Rouge leader, but never imagined it to be Lilith. The idea of it being her just seemed to obvious for the thought to even cross his mind. But now it made sense.
"Yeah, well, from what I heard anyway. The Rouges have been sent to catch me and bring me to her, I'm not sure why, though. I doubt it'll be a good thing. She also said that one of her minions was supposed to be keeping an eye on you and she was furious that you had slipped past her guard," Beth said, remembering what had been said in the dream.
"Well, we both know that I had nothing to do with my escape from Edom. That was all you and she won't be happy when she realises it was you who helped me to escape."
"She's not happy with me anyway, I have yet to be brought to her little kingdom of evil and she's angry, both at her minions and me."
"Why does she want you, though? It doesn't make sense," Jonathan pondered as to why Lilith would want Beth but came up with nothing. He knew that the Rouges were trying to take down the Clave under her command, but he couldn't figure out why.
