"Those are bobos. Real Adidas have three stripes, not four. Your shoes are bobos", said a girl by the name of Jessica Wedge.
"So", a young Alex Vause asked confused as to why it mattered.
"So, your mom shops at payless", Jessica continued, "and works at friendlies". All of the girls laughed except for one.
"Oh come on Piper that was funny", one of the whispered to her friend who was in the back of the group of bullies.
"No it wasn't", the little blonde girl protested.
"Oh. My. God. Piper just laugh! Don't you want to be part of the cool kids?"
Piper stayed silent.
"My mom has like four jobs", Alex defended herself proudly.
"That's not something to brag about", Jessica said, taking Alex's pride away and turning it into shame.
"At least her mom does something with her life", Piper mumbled only audible enough for her friend to hear her.
"Shush Piper", her friend whisper-yelled at her.
"You dress like a bum", the girls continued to bully Alex.
"She smells like one too", Piper's friend said earning a laugh from the girls.
And with that, Alex runs away crying.
"Bye-bye pigsty", the girls said as Alex ran away.
"See Piper now we-", Polly turned around only to not see her friend by her side.
Piper left Polly and the bullies to run after Alex.
Piper was mad to say the least. She felt bad for the girl and she was mad at herself for not saying anything to stop it.
Piper looked around and finally found the raven haired girl sitting against a brick wall crying softly.
"Hey are you okay", Piper asked the girl.
Alex looked up at her and instant fear came all over her body.
"Sorry did you want to sit here", Alex says standing up in fear.
She recognized the girl. She was part of the girls who was tormenting her moments ago. So obviously she was scarred of her.
"No, no, no", Piper sat down, bringing the girl back down with her, "I just wanted to say sorry about those girls".
Alex was confused, she wiped her tears away before speaking, "Why are you apologizing? You didn't do anything. It's not your fault that your friends are a couple of assholes"
Alex, despite her age, cussed a lot since her mother didn't mind her language when she was around.
"They're not my friends. My friend, Polly, wants to be friends with them since they're apparently the cool kids. But I don't really like them. They made you cry"
"I wasn't crying", Alex exclaimed.
Piper laughed softly, "Yes you were".
When Alex heard the blonde laugh, she couldn't help but smile. That girl's laugh was the most beautiful thing she's ever heard in her entire 10 year old life.
And all she wanted to do was to make the blondie laugh.
