Sneaking Out Of Paradise

"Lights out, campers! We gotta huge day ahead of us!" A camp facilitator alerted all the campers of John Quincy Adams Middle School. They were at a campsite by a lake, and instead of being in tents and sleeping on the hard cold dirt, they were given the advantage of having planks of wood and a sleeping bag.

Back in the girls' "dorm", Riley and Maya lied down on the wooden planks, and once Riley's head hit the bag, she was out like a light.

Heaving a sigh, Maya turned to stare at the blank ceiling. The fans around her were spinning loudly, and the lights outside weren't helping her either. She was just lying down there in the dark, as if she was dead with her eyes wide open.

Five minutes past. Then half an hour. And an hour. Then two. She couldn't take it anymore. She turned the other way, trying to peek from the small hole in the wooden planks. Seeing that there was no people around, she decided to sneak out. Into the woods that is.

Lucas, now he was having the same troubles with sleeping. On his right, Farkle was snoring loudly. His left, Zay was sleep-talking. Sneaking out? You got that right.

"Who is that?" he whispered, as he crept towards the gate that said "DO NOT TRESPASS". Just this once, he thought.

Maya searched for a hole that she could fit through, and in a flash, found a hole behind a rose bush. She smile evilly, crawling into the gate and strolled towards a hidden part of the lake.

Still unfamiliar on who the blonde really was, Lucas followed her suit. Stalker-ish, but that's what you get from Lucas Friar.

As she crept closer towards the huge lake, she started to throw stones into the lake. One by one, they caused ripples across the lake. She did that a few times, to release the frustration that she had with camp. Lucas, snuck behind a bush, where he was watching her in the moonlight. She looked, beautiful.

"Loving can hurt, loving can hurt sometimes," she began singing, as she took out a pad of paper, and a pencil. The oil lamp that she has beside her helped her see in the pitch black, the only light you can have being the moon.

Her blonde hair reflected the light magnificently, as she sang and drew, her lips curved into a smile, looking at her drawing. Her smile dropped once she heard a rustling in the bushes. Oh, Huckleberry.

"Lucas? Is that you?"

"Uh, yeah, hey, Maya," he jumped to his feet, dusting the sand off his pants.

"What're you doing here?" she raised an eyebrow, setting the paper down.

"Just wanted to wander around, you know. I can't fall asleep, so why not this?" he coolly said.

"I see. Well, me too," she simply stated, and went back to sitting on her log, drawing.

"What're you drawing, Pancake?" he sat beside her on the log, holding up the lamp so that she could see better.

"Just something," she murmured, and began using her fingers to shade the shadows.

Lucas peered over her shoulder, and looked at the drawing. It was, different. It wasn't just a drawing that you'd say is creative.

It's beautiful. Just like you, he thought in his head.

"You think I'm beautiful, Huckleberry?" Maya raised an eyebrow, eyeing Lucas.

"Did I say that out loud?" she nodded in reply. "No, no, I didn't mean it."

"So you're implying I'm ugly?" she challenged, her lips beginning to form into a grin.

"No, no! Okay, fine. I think you're beautiful. Is there a problem with that?"

"Not at all, Huckleberry. Not at all. I'm happy you confessed. I thought I was gonna have to make the first move," she sighed.

"No way! That's a boy's job. Anyway, I'm gonna stay here, watch the lake a bit. You go ahead," Lucas said, leaning against the tree the log rested on.

"Bye, Ranger Rick," she held the paper in her hands, walking towards the "dorm".

She stopped, turning back, and kissed him on the cheek.

"I like you too, Huckleberry." she smiled, running off into the woods, giggling.

Lucas, stunned by the moment, shot his hands up in the air, screaming in joy. Once he settled down, he whispered.

"I love you."
