Friday November 27th
Mikey Way didn't mind school, but he didn't particularly like it. He enjoyed the time he got to spend with his only friend Ryan, but he enjoyed time at home much more. He was pretty content with sitting out of the way of the crowds with Ryan, and occasionally Spencer (whom he didn't completely class as a friend yet), he never got involved with gossip and knew pretty much nobody's names. But that was fine.
Most people getting home from school would complain but Mikey always felt the same, at home and school, bored. Nothing exciting went on in his life, everyone else had gone to exciting places, met their soulmate or done some other crazy stuff, whereas Mikey just sat alone, or talked to his sibling. Gee wasn't terrible company, just a little bit loud and bubbly, like they always had something going on in their bit-more-exciting life. Mikey and Gee were somewhat opposites and to someone who didn't know them well, they would not think of them to be siblings. But in reality, their interests and personality traits were similar so if you were good friends with them, you'd see the resemblance.
Mikey opened his front door, stepped inside and closed it behind him, a gust of wind seeping its way inside just before it closed, making him shudder under the fall air.
"Gee?" He called out to his sibling, who, in response, hummed back from the kitchen. Mikey walked towards the wooden door that opens to his kitchen, his boots making heavy noises on the laminated wooden floor.
The first thing he noticed was his siblings newly dyed bright red hair, and Mikey was sure it was black in the morning. "What the hell?"
Gee just hummed in a questioning manner, turning around and laughing at their brothers confusion. "Oh! my hair." They laughed a little more before jumping up and sitting on the kitchen counter. "I didn't go to school today, no need to. So I did it today."
Mikey just nodded, he knew when to and when not to question his siblings antics and this was one of the times he really shouldn't ask.
"So," Gee hopped down from their spot on the counter and began to fill the kettle with water. "About reflections."
Mikey just groaned, he hated having a soul mate who he didn't know yet, he hated the whole concept of a soul mate really. He understands that whoever his soulmate is was made to be with him but he didn't like being told what to do when it comes to 'love'.
"Oh come on!" Gee drummed their fingers on the countertop while the kettle boiled. "You've gotta have some faith in it."
Mikey shook his head. "Never have, never will. Besides, I don't believe in soulmates anyway."
Gee snorted a little at their brothers comment. "Wether you like it or not, you've got one." They swiftly grabbed the kettle and began pouring the hot water into a mug, then turning to face their brother again. "Unless you're aromantic I guess."
"Which I'm not." Mikey huffed, leaning on the door behind him, the zippers from his leather jacket making scratching noises against the wood. "I don't know why, I just don't like the idea of having a soul mate for some reason."
"I can't say that I know how you feel because I don't but you probably aren't the only one who feels that way." Gee moved and put an arm around their brothers shoulders and smiling at the younger. "I found my soulmate," Gee then got up again and moved to the kitchen table, sitting in that. Honestly, Mikey couldn't comprehend how they just couldn't keep still, Gee was as hyperactive as a puppy whereas Mikey couldn't be bothered with most things.
Mikey perked up at his siblings words, he was happy for Gee and other people who found their soulmates, he just wasn't interested himself, or so he told himself. Mikey was really repelling his own feelings, his jealousy of other people. Deep down he knew that he really did want to meet his soul mate, but for some reason his brain "wanted to keep up the 'I don't need anyone' act.
"Assuming you want to know," Gee laughed, or more like giggled. "It's Frank." They just grinned.
Mikey rolled his eyes, he really wasn't surprised. You could tell Gee and Frank had something, that's the thing with people who are soulmates, you could just tell who were made to be together, they just gravitated towards each other.
"Can't say I'm surprised." Mikey shot a small smile in his siblings direction. "You told him yet?"
Gee's smile slightly faded, "Well, not yet." Gee played with the sleeves of their black hoodie, looking down into their lap as they did so. Mikey rolled his eyes again at them, he couldn't comprehend how they were the most talkative person he knows but they couldn't tell someone that they are their soulmate. "But, I'm telling him later. He should be on his way round." Gee bit their lip, looking nervously at the front door before taking a sip of their now lukewarm coffee.
As if on cue, a knock at the door sounded though the mostly empty house, making Gee jump and suddenly loose their confident posture. Looking back at Mikey reassuringly, who just shrugged in return, they straightened out their grid skirt (which was tumblr as fuck) and walked towards the door. And with a shaky hand, opened it to see Frank standing there in a thick dark green coat that made him look smaller than he actually was.
"Hey," Frank smiled and waved awkwardly, stepping inside the house and closing the door behind him carefully. Gee then led him into the lounge and Mikey couldn't help but listen to their conversation. He didn't hear much as most of it was muffled but he managed to make out a few phrases and words like 'something to tell you' and 'my soulmate' and 'me too', so Mikey was guessing it went well.
A few minutes after, Mikey knew he was right because Gee waltzed into the kitchen with the biggest smile on their face that pretty much nothing could wipe off.
