Saturday November 28th

Ryan was freaking out, or perhaps that was an under exaggeration. Ryan was full on panicking, seeing as his love life from then on could all be affected by one conversation, he was pretty on edge. Him and Brendon had become closer friends in the past few months and every day they spent together, Ryan went home and looked in the mirror. Every day the reflection became less distorted and less blurred, revealing a clear image of Brendon. Ryan was pretty shaken up at first, though who wouldn't be? Imagine you had just found out that one of your best friends was your soulmate and you didn't know for months. Yet, Ryan did know he can't change fate as he was not Merida.

In what Ryan thought was an idiot move, he had arranged to meet Brendon later that day outside of a convenience store on the corner of Cemetery Drive. And right after Brendon accepted, Ryan spent ten minutes hitting his head against the wall, while avoiding all mirrors, wondering why whatever higher power out there had decided to punish him in that way.

At that moment, Ryan decided that calling Mikey and asking- well, begging- him to come with him to settle his nerves a little.

Ryan held his phone up to his ear and listened closely to each ring, counting the seconds between. He had a habit of doing this, counting everything. Counting seconds, sweets in a jar, stones on the ground and pretty much everything that was in numerous quantities. After 5 rings and approximately 27 seconds Mikey picked up.

"Hey." Ryan spoke up first, biting his lip and his voice wavering a little.

"You okay?" Mikey also sounded worried, but worried for Ryan, Mikey had a habit of worrying about pretty much everything.

"Yeah, yeah. Fine, dandy, perfect, tip-top, peachy, amazing, fabulous." Ryan said sarcastically, still able to make a slightly dry joke out of his situation.

Mikey just sighed, he was used to his best friends sarcasm, mainly because he has had to put up with it for a good couple of years. "Talk to me." He shuffled around a bit on the very uncomfortable kitchen stool and putting a finger up to his lips at his sibling, who was making too much noise for someone who was only making food.

"Ifoundoutwhomysoulmateis." Ryan said in one breath, Mikey barely understanding what he said because it was so fast. Gee had heard it perfectly, turning around and sticking their tongue out at Mikey.

"Well, who is it?" Mikey sighed again, but at his sibling's immaturity this time.

"It's Brendon." Ryan breathed out, flopping back down onto his bed and staring at the posters he had stuck to the ceiling.

Mikey couldn't say he was surprised, they had always seemed to gravitate towards each other, more so now they've grown closer. You could often tell who the soulmates were because you could never really tear them apart, no matter how far away from each other you might pull them. It was like a magnetic bond that nothing could get in the way of and they always ended up together.

"Well, are you going to tell him?" Mikey said those words for the second time that day, then breathing out in a bored manner and resting his head in the palm of his hands.

"That's what I called to tell you about actually," Ryan's nerves bubbled up again just as fast as they'd gone for a short while. "I've arranged to meet him on Cemetery Drive. Will you come with me because I'm scared."

Mikey just rolled his eyes. "Ryan, you're sixteen but I'll come with you because Gee's being annoying again." He glanced over at Gee who had raised their eyebrows at him and then flipping him off and walking into the lounge with their food.

"Great!" Ryan sounded all too happy about that but he didn't have a chance to think it over because he put the phone down right after then texting Mikey the details.

Some may think that being someone's soulmate always worked both ways, when in truth, it didn't. You could have one person as your soul mate but they could have another, and unless you can keep up a healthy and happy polyamorous relationship, there's nothing you can do. That's what made admitting it scary, knowing that there's a possibility they're made for someone else, completely out of your reach.

Ryan had dragged Mikey along early, his nerves once again building up as he counted that he only had 15 minutes and 36 seconds to go until Brendon was supposed to arrive. They were stood next to a cafe, the warm air seeping through the red door every time someone came in or out. Mikey had suggested they should go in for a bit as Ryan was shivering in only a hoodie, but Ryan declined as he couldn't risk it. And so both boys were stood rather suspiciously outside a cafe, freezing to death for 15 minutes.

Ryan had been counting the seconds ever since they arrived on Cemetery Drive, it was a weird habit, Ryan would admit that but it wasn't like he could help it by just stopping counting things, habits didn't work that way.

"He should've been here 47 seconds ago," Ryan bit his lip nervously, looking over at Mikey who now had a hand on his shoulder, trying to calm him.

"Ryan, it's fine, you're fine. He's probably running late." Mikey tried all he could to calm Ryan but nothing seemed to be working. "In all honesty, I don't know how you manage to count these things so precisely."

"I- I don't kn- know either." Ryan was breathing extremely heavily now, his vision blurry with shakiness and tears, passes by to scared and ignorant to stop and ask what's wrong.

"Ryan!" Mikey half-shouted, making him sit down on the pavement however awkward it may've been. "Take deep breaths, you'll be fine." Despite Mikey's efforts, again, nothing was working.

In really bad timing, Mikey stood up and spotted Brendon coming down the street. "Well, fuck this." Mikey whispered under his breath for a moment before trying to help Ryan,

As Brendon neared them, he really wasn't expecting to see Ryan having a panic attack and Mikey, of all people, in a desperate attempt to calm him. As an immediate reaction, he ran right up to Ryan, joining the attempts at calming the boy.

Brendon had heard of a few ways that supposedly helped reduce breathing or stopped panic attacks, but he wasn't really sure if they worked as Brendon hadn't been in that situation before. Still, he was willing to try every option.

At this point Mikey had stepped back, just watching now because he was clearly no help.

Brendon immediately lifted Ryan's chin and kissed him softly before pulling away, and Ryan now had a bright red blush practically painted onto his cheeks and a smile on his tear stained face.

"Hello soulmate," Brendon said with a wink before kissing him again.
