Sunday November 29th

Mikey and Gee's mom had always been supportive of them both and always promised she would be, whatever path of life they may choose or wherever the 'flow of the river of life may take them', as she had put it. Their mom was a kind woman, you could joke with her and talk to her, but if you got on her wrong side, you might as well move halfway across the world. She didn't like to be treated disrespectfully, which Mikey and Gee never did, so they very rarely got on her bad side.

Gee and Mikey then pulled up outside their house, it was relatively small, but none the less cosy. The house had a dark slate roof and white walls, the door was a duck egg blue colour and blue flowers grew in flower boxes on the windowsills. Gee had a really strict aesthetic and according to them, their house was borderline aesthetic. Just within their 'guidelines', as they so poetically put it. Initially, Mikey had rolled his eyes at his sibling after they said that but he did see where they were coming from, although it fit quite a lot of Mikey's 'aesthetic.'

Gee turned the engine off and swung the car door open quickly then practically jumped out of the drivers seat, Mikey following behind but not as quickly. After locking the car, they both walked into the house, Mikey's heavy footsteps on the wooden floor were enough to make their Mom come bursting out of the kitchen, pretty happy to see her two 'children', broadly speaking. Seeing as one of the two still acted like a child.

"Took your time." She tutted, ushering them into the kitchen where she was cooking. "Coffee?" She asked, Gee and Mikey both shook their heads.

"How was the business trip?" Gee questioned and she smiled, happy that at least one of her children bothered to ask. Mikey would've asked but he was too tired to do anything, too tired to do anything other than think.

Mikey leaned back in his chair, the hard wood pressing into his back, he rocked slightly. Two legs of the chair now holding his weight. He didn't listen to how his mothers trip went, he didn't care how Mr Foster managed to get himself fired, all of it was boring. Yet something else added to his already painfully boring life.

"How was your weekend then?" Their mom asked after finishing her rant about how much she hated Miss Morstan who apparently stole her office supplies which was deemed to be the crime of the century by her.

"Good, actually." Gee cut in just before Mikey could answer, leaving Mikey sulking on his chair until Gee had finished saying whatever they were gonna say. "Found my soulmate." Their mother practically grinned from ear to ear, her mouth was stretched into such a big smile that it almost looked forced, though Mikey could tell it wasn't.

She clapped her hands together in joy, still smiling. How she wasn't in pain (or showing any physical signs of it) from smiling that much was beyond Mikey's imagination. He could barely hold a smile for a second without feeling a strain on his lips.

"What about you Mikey?" She then questioned him, turning to face him. Her hazel eyes locked on with his as she waited expectantly for an answer that would be extremely anti-climactic for her once he got his words out.

"Urm, I... Hung out with Ryan. It was... Normal?" The expression on his mothers face said to him that it wasn't the answer she was expecting but she soon put on a now obvious fake smile, nodded then turned back to the stove and began cooking lunch.

"You sure you didn't do anything else, Mikey?" Their mom spoke, her back turned away from them, she was pouring something into a pan but neither of her two children knew nor cared what it was. Mikey pondered over an answer, wondering if he should blatantly lie to sound like he had a much more eventful social life but decided against it.

"I met someone new, only briefly. He was crying, I talked to him. That's all." Mikey spoke, a nonchalant tone pierced through the air, the atmosphere awkward and dull.

"See, that's more interesting then just hanging out with Ryan." She smiled as she spoke, you could tell. She had her back turned but you could tell she was smiling, the tone of her voice was lighter and bolder, she was genuinely happy. "What was his name?"

"I can't remember." Mikey acted fast as he really didn't feel up to talking at all. Him trying to dodge the conversation all together was inevitable. Just then Mikey heard a faint whisper of 'bullshit' under Gee's breath. Mikey reached his foot under the table and kicked Gee on the shin, earning a cry of pain from his sibling.

Mikey only smiled and shrugged at his mom, who had turned around to see what was wrong.

"You remember his name, then?" She smiled sarcastically, Mikey rolled his eyes but nodded after. Also resisting a nagging urge to kick Gee again.

"Pete, I think." Mikey again sounded dull and bored, the sooner he could go to his room and watch Netflix, the better.

"I know a Pete who would be about your age." Their mother wondered out loud, staring at the plain grey wall behind Gee's head. "Doesn't live far from here." She carried on rambling (the topic soon changed to the different types of cheeses she had tried on her trip) but Mikey had got up and left.

When he was in his room he breathed a sigh of relief and immediately grabbed his phone and texted Ryan.

Mikey: Hey Ry, want to come over? Doctor who marathon?

Ryan: I'll be 10 minutes.

Mikey smiled, wondering what it could be like to have more than one best friend. A squad. Mikey visibly cringed as that word crossed his mind, never using that again. But Mikey was fine with having one friend, better than a ton of fake ones.

Hello! So this is long awaited, might be a bit anticlimactic as it is quite shit.

The ending to this might seem quite random but it will tie in with the next few chapters if all goes to plan.

Do any of you ship Janto, because I am such trash for it.

Also if you have any good fic recommendations (any ship) let me know because I've read pretty much all in my library.

Sorry if this note is too long, I'll go now.
