The Memory

Chapter 13

"Oh my gosh! Is that Damien?!" Fear filled her voice and she was starting to hyperventilate, as if she already knew the answer. Juliette's brother, Joey and her sister, who had already told me to call her Toby, were on either side of me. "Who's Damien?" Toby asked, her voice filled with the curiosity that most girls her age lacked. She was 11, and claimed she was much more mature than Juliette and I. "He's just an old friend of mine, Toby. We grew up together, but he's very mean to me now."

Just then, Damien's younger brother, Jared, turned around and spotted us. He waved frantically at Marcie, but once he saw me, he frantically waved for me to run, and I dived behind a bush, just as Damien turned around and saw Marcie. I heard his loud voice as he called her name. She waved to him and he yelled, "What are you doing here in town, Marcie?" I saw him jogging over and stiffened in fear he would notice me. "Please don't vex me here, Damien. I'm visiting my beloved cousins, Juliette, Joseph and Anna."

The kids turned their heads in her direction and I was worried for a moment they would give Marcie away in front of Damien. Then Toby talked. "How many times do I have to tell you to call me Toby?!" She swiveled on her heel and stalked away from us. Joey shot a glare. "And do I have to tell you again, my name is Joey, not Joseph!" He turned and ran after his sister. Juliette shrugged and walked up next to Marcie. She held her hand out to Damien. "I'm Juliette. I'm obviously more mature than they are." She flipped her hair and I could immediatly tell she liked Damien. I heard Marcie sigh and mumble something under her breath. "What was that, Marcie?"

"Nothing." She blurted. She looked behind her. "Well, I think we should go and see where Anna and Joseph... sorry. Toby and Joey went." She grabbed Juliette's arm and started in the direction that Toby and Joey had left. "Wait!" He yelled after them. "You forgot your friend in the bushes." He turned to me.

Sorry for the short chapter, I just really wanted a cliffhanger. P.S. sorry for not posting in a while and don't worthy. I didn't die on you. :)
