When we got to my house, Marcie helped me pick out a dress and some make-up. We picked out a blue dress dress with a v-neck and glitter at the neckline. The skirt of it was blue and swirled into the bottom which was silver and spread out like it was melted silver. I had light blue eyeshadow, and rosy red blush. Marcie also made me wear a pair of knee-high silver boots. When we went downstairs, Jake was sitting at the table, not paying attention while my mom was talking away about who knows what. He suddenly looked up at me and almost fell out of his chair trying to stand up. "What happened to you?"

"I'm wearing a dress. That's as close as I am to dressing up."

"Let's eat now." My mom stopped him from saying any more. Marcie sat down with us and ate the fried chicken my mom had prepared, which tasted strangely like it came from KFC.

After we finished eating, Jake leaned toward me and whispered, "I need to talk to you alone." "Mom, me and Jake are going to my room to talk." Her mother gave her a look that obviously said, 'I told you so'. "Well, I think that's my cue to leave." Marcie stood up and wiped her mouth before hugging my mom and leaving. Then Jake grabbed my arm and took me upstairs.

When they got up to my room, I flopped down on my bed and said, "So what are we going to talk about?" Before he could answer, we heard a gunshot and Jake pushed me into my closet. I was about to yell at him because it hadn't scared me, but before I could, he put his head down and kissed me. I felt my eyes widen a little before I interlocked my fingers behind his neck and kissed him back. We both pulled back and I looked in his eyes as he put something around my neck. It was a beautiful golden locket. Then I heard a creak outside the door and pushed Jake into the clothes hanging on the side of the closet, behind him. Then the door opened.

On the other side of the door were two women. One had long brown hair pulled back into a ponytail. Her face was oval and she had olive-toned skin. Her blue eyes were gleaming, but they died down and turned normal when she saw me. She was much taller than her friend. Her friend had short black hair that flopped around her face. Her face was slightly rounded and her skin was a light brown. Her eyes were dark as night and they were making me feel like a puddle. "What do we have here?" The tall one asked her friend. "Please don't kill me." I whimpered. "I can sing. I can make you money."

"She is a pretty one, too. And she has quite the attitude." The tall one said. "I say we keep her." So they took my arms and dragged me downstairs. They walked through the kitchen and I whimpered at the sight of my mother and James' parents at the table with their heads laying on the table and a bullet in their backs. The women dragged me into their car and I took one last longing look at my house before the car started to leave. I couldn't stop thinking about Jake and I took the locket out of my shirt and admired it. I decided not to open it until I could be alone and I slowly drifted off to sleep.
