I threw my bookbag on the kitchen table after school and sank into a chair. I put my head into my hands and thought about what what was to come. I thought about Juliette's cousin and what he would be like, I thought about Jake, I thought about the talent show and I thought about the dance. Then a thought came to me. If I paired with Juliette for the talent show and won, we would get to sing at the dance as our prize. I grabbed my bag and ran upstairs to call Juliette and start planning.

I threw my bag on my bed and walked into closet where my phone was sitting on a table and I grabbed it. I walked back out and over to the window. I dialed Juliette's number and waited as it rang. She picked it up and soon after her face appeared in her window. "I just got the greatest idea!"

"I'm listening." She said quietly, leaning closer to me as if we didn't have phones. "I think we should do a duet for the talent show." She blinked a few timed before slowly breaking into a smile. "That would be perfect!" She threw her hands up in the air. "Can I come over now to practice and figure stuff out?" I smiled and nodded. "Okay, bye!" She hung up and disappeared from the window.

After a few minutes, I heard a knock on my door and Juliette came in. She smiled and came over to sit on my bed. "So what song are you thinking of?" I got up off the bed and walked over to my dresser where I put a CD I bought. I held it up for her to see. "I Want Crazy by Hunter Hays."

She squealed and clapped. "Yay! That song is perfect for what happened to you." She stopped clapping and put her hands down. "Sorry. I didn't mean for it to sound mean."

I smiled sadly. "That's fine. I know what you meant. That's why I chose it. I called my friend Marcie. She promised not to tell anyone where I am and that she would record it to send to Jake back home. She'll be here tomorrow. I already asked Astora about. She'll be staying in my room."

We practiced in my room for about an hour before Juliette had to go home for supper. and Astora said she could come over for a sleep-over that weekend if she wanted so we could practice. Juliette agreed she would ask her parents about it. I walked back up to my room and went out to the balcony to look out at the night I decided I would do this every night so I could whisper the special prayer my dad had taught to me and Jake before he left. "I see the moon, the moon sees me. The moon sees the one that I want to see." My dad said to always remember that in case we ever got split up. Jake and I had both promised we would never split up back then. Then this happened. I wondered if he still remembered the prayer.
