Missing Bodies

I walk quietly down the hall. I pay attention to every sound that has been made. Even the squeaks of my own shoes. I hear another set behind me. I act as if I don't hear them and slow down.

When the footsteps are right behind me, I swing my arm around and hit the follower in the face. "Ow," the figure said. That voice didn't sound at all like the killer's. I see light reflecting off of strands of red hair. I realize that I accidentally hit Caleb. "Why did you hit me," he asks.

"I thought you were him."

"Well, I'm not. Ow. That hurt."

"I'm sorry. Why were you following me."

"I followed you because I was alone, and my odds were already pretty low if I were faced up against him."

"Do you have your phone on you," I ask.

"Yeah, why?"

"Give it to me."

"No, I need it to call for the police."

"Caleb, the cell service is down. So is the WiFi. There is no way of calling for help. And he is using some kind of device that tracks all of our phones. You need to give it to me so he doesn't find us."

He hands it over and I walk to the end of the hall. I throw it along with Meredith's phone in a different direction far into another corridor. I walk back over to Caleb. "We have to make it over to the main office."

"Why?"

I ignore his question and lead him to the office. I open the door and walk to the counter. The room is still dark, except for Jennifer's computer. I was over to Jennifer's desk and make a horrifying discovery.

"What," Caleb asks. I don't reply. "What's the matter?"

"Jennifer's and Derek's body," I pause. "They're gone."
