"Derek's dead," Caleb nearly exclaims.
"Yeah," I reply.
"What happened," Caleb asks.
"Derek, Bryan, Courtney, Bridget, and I were hiding behind the counter, but then the killer suddenly appeared behind us and attacked Derek. He held the killer back so we could escape."
"Do you actually know Derek's dead," Caleb continues his inquiry.
"No, but he isn't here, so as far as I know he is."
"What are we doing in here?"
"I came in here to investigate. Something strange is going on here."
"That is literally the understatement of the history of Earth," Caleb says outraged. I click on the Google Chrome icon. "What are you doing?"
"I am checking Jennifer's emails for any strange activity."
"But you can't do that. The WiFi is down."
"If someone says that to me again, I swear, I will murder someone." I click on the "Sign In" button. I am brought to a page with a log in screen. Jennifer's email address is already in the box that says "Email".
"How are you going to get into her account? You don't have her password." I reach into my pocket and pull out a USB key. "What is that?"
"It is my thumb drive. Over time, I have developed a code that can decode a password for an Email address." I place it in the port.
"Is that illegal," Caleb asks.
"How should I know," I reply. "I only use it for personal use not personal gain."
"Isn't that the same thing," he asks.
"No and I'm not going to explain why. There is no time." Within seconds, I gain access to Jennifer's email account. I click under "Sent". There is only one email that was sent in the last few hours. The subject is about Grad Night. I open it to reveal that it is about the time of Grad Night.
To whom it may concern:
It has been brought to our attention from our newly graduated students that Grad Night should be extended a few hours longer than the previous years to play more games because the majority of the time will be spent bidding at he auction. The beginning of the party will start at 11:30 pm as always, but it will end at 8:00 am. You may pick your children up then.
Thank you. Sincerely
Jennifer Kailey
I finish reading. "That is weird," Caleb states. "Why weren't we told about this?"
"Because Jennifer and Meredith didn't know about his email."
"Huh?"
"This is a forged email."
"I don't understand."
"Isn't it obvious. The recording over the loudspeaker .The locked doors and windows. The knocked out cameras. The blocked signals. The cellular tracking. And now this fake email. This has been planned for a long time. And something that has been this well thought out, will be completed flawlessly."
"What are you talking about?"
"Whoever has been planning this made sure no one will leave. And no I'm starting to think that none of us will make it out."
We hear a groan come from inside the vault. The door slowly opens to reveal a shocking turn of events.
