Carry is sobbing at a table with Bianca and Amelia is consoling her. Everyone else is quietly panicking in different groups. Meredith is by us asking us exactly what happened.

Terry already gave his version. He said I told him to stay guard. He waited outside of the office patiently. He heard me scream and looked through the window. He saw the figure taking the knife out of Jennifer's neck and lunged for me. He broke the glass case holding trophies ad grabbed the largest award and threw it through the window into the office. After the figure collapsed, he and I ran back to the cafeteria.

I begin to say my version. "As Terry already said, I told him to stand guard. Jennifer and I went over the security feeds and found out that all the feeds are down. Jennifer rewound the recording and we saw that a masked figure was taking out all of the cameras. Blood flew on to the monitor and I turned back toward Jennifer. There was a knife in her throat. The figure in the recordings took the knife out of Jennifer's neck and attacked me. As surprised as I am to say this, Terry saved my life."

"So," Meredith says. "There is a killer running around the school."

"Yes," I say. "And it could be anyone."

A girl screams from inside the kitchen. A group of other girls run out. I look through the window to see the figure retracting his knife from Kate Newbold's lifeless body. He lets go of her and she collapses.

Everyone rises from where they were sitting and run to the nearest door. The figure walks out of the kitchen and towards us holding the knife next to his mask. I am the one closest to the door and unlock it. Everyone runs out and runs in different directions. Yeah, that's a good idea when there is a killer around. Isolate yourself so that you can be defenseless.

I don't run away yet. I close the door and drag a table in front of the door. I do the same thing for the other two doors and run in the direction where I think most of my class has run.

I pass the office when the door swings open and an arm grabs me and pulls me in. I begin to fight the figure until I realize that he isn't trying to kill me. He is trying to make me quiet. Derek is the one who dragged me into the office. He grabs my hand and pulls me behind the counter where, Courtney, Bryan, and Bridget Spring (Courtney's best friend) are hiding. Courtney and Bridget are both crying not because there is a psycho killer running around picking everyone off. They are crying because less than ten feet away is Jennifer's body and her blood is covering the floor. Good thing the two girls are crying silently because we would have been found by now.

"Has anyone tried to call the police," I ask quietly.

"We tried," Derek whispers back. "But there is no Cell service or a wireless signal. See." He pulls out his phone and shows me that both sets of bars are empty.

"Damn," I quietly exclaim. The other four stare at me in surprise. They have never heard me swear before. "What," I rhetorically ask.

I look around the counter to see if the figure is going to walk by. I don't see anything move. I don't hear anything move. I don't:t hear footsteps, cries, or screams. But then I hear someone clearing their throat. It wasn't Bryan, Damian, Courtney, or Bridget. And it definitely wasn't me.

We all turn to see the killer standing over us hiding the knife.

"How the hell..." I ask.

He lunges toward Courtney. Derek jumps up and shields her from the killer's attack. "Go," he exclaims. The four of us stand and run to the door. Courtney is resisting. She wants to stay with Derek. Bryan grabs her and slings her over his shoulder and we run out.

"No... No! Bring me back! He needs me! I need him!"

We in into the gym and hide behind the retractable bleachers. "Court," Bridget says. That's what everyone calls her "Court". "We can't, if we could have stayed, we might have been killed."

"Are you saying that Derek has been killed," Courtney asks.

"No," Bridget says. "That's not what I'm saying. I would never say anything like that."

"But it is something I would say," a voice says from somewhere inside the room."

We all look around with fright in our expressions. "He's here," Courtney quietly says.
