Christmas is in less than a week. There's one last game tomorrow and then all of us are leaving to visit family. Obviously I'm not staying here alone, so I'm going to go to Montreal with Corey. We leave in two days and I'm really excited. Since no one is gonna be here for over a week, Alyssa and I are spending the day cleaning up. We've just finished vacuuming and now I'm mopping the floor in the kitchen while she's dusting in the living room. This wouldn't have been necessary but I can tell that Brandon and Corey don't clean too often.
Alyssa has her iPod connected to the sound system and has been playing music all morning. Surprisingly she's been pretty easy to get along with today. Cleaning is a lot of work let me tell you. I started out in some shorts and a t-shirt and now I've got on just my sports bra. Alyssa however cannot take her shirt off because she has on her fake belly, and the boys should be home from practice in a little while. Sucks for her.
After twenty minutes or so, I've moved into the living room to straighten up. There's Xbox games and DVDs strewn across the tv stand. And blankets everywhere because sometimes I have to sleep on the couch because I get sick. Alyssa has sat on the couch to catch her breath and I laugh.

"What?" She asks

"I'm pregnant and I'm still doing more than you." I answer and she just glares at me. I shrug and continue to put things away. As I'm trying to fold one of the blankets, I hear the front door open. And then someone grabs the end of the blanket and helps me fold it. Once it's out of the way, I see a sweaty Corey in front of me, a smile on his face.

"Hi!" I grin, not having seen him all morning. I set the blanket on the back of the couch and he looks me up and down.

"Problem?" I hum, moving things off the coffee table.

"Have you gained weight?" He asks and my mouth drops open as I look at him.

"Wait no I mean-" I cut him off by laughing and he sighs

"It's okay, I'm messing with you. Yea my stomach is getting a tiny bit bigger." I say and he smiles. As I turn back around I feel his hands on my belly. He holds them there for a minute and then steps away, sighing.

"Are you going to shower?" I ask, crossing to the other side of the room. I notice that Alyssa has wondered off again.

"No, I have to go back and meet with my coach. I could've stayed and done it right away but I wanted to see you." Corey explains as he sits down. I smile as a blush creeps onto my cheeks. As I glance around the room, the song changes and the beginning cords are too familiar.

"Alyssa!" I yell, looking around the room for her iPod. I don't see it anywhere so I know she has it with her, wherever she went.

(Lyrics are italicized, the song is up top if you wanna listen.)

you're just a small bump unborn, in four months you're brought to life.

"What's wrong?" Corey asks, noticing my panic

"This song, I just-" I take a deep breath and sit down, trying not to let it bother me.

if you're not inside me, I'll put my future in you.

I clear my throat and decide to just turn off the stereo. Once I do, I look back at Corey and see he's very confused.

"I don't feel good." I lie and he comes over to me.

"You're shaking. And you feel warm." He whispers, feeling at my skin.

"Maybe it was the chemicals from the cleaning stuff I used." I say and he nods

"Um, I should probably go to my practice. I don't really want you to be alone, are you okay?" He questions and I look into his eyes for the first time.

"I'm not alone." I laugh

"Ev I know you don't like Alyssa that much and as long as she's here you don't have Brandon to help you." He answers and I just shrug.

"I'm fine, Corey! I've been on my feet all day. I'll just relax." I assure and he raises his brows at me.

"Something's wrong." He states and I just look away. A door slams and Alyssa appears in front of us.

"Why'd you turn my music off?" She spits

"That song is depressing." I tell her and she frowns

"Small Bump is my favorite song." She replies

"Small Bump is about- never mind." I sigh, taking a hold of Corey's hand.

"Alright how about I take you over to hang with Patrick? You get along with him good." He says and I nod because I do get along with Patrick. Amanda and I are good friends as well.

"Yea that's okay. I'll do that." I agree and he smiles. I change into something more... appropriate and then we're on our way. Corey just drops me off at the front door and I take the elevator upstairs. I knock on the door and hear someone mumble something. Eventually, the door opens and I'm face to face with a damp Patrick Kane, a towel around his waist.

"Hi." I laugh and he blinks a few times before smiling. He steps back and lets me in before closing the door.

"Sorry to just stop by. I told Corey that I don't feel good and he wanted me to come here." I explain, sitting down in the living room.

"No it's fine, just didn't expect it to be you." He says and I laugh. He runs off and comes back a few minutes later in some clothes. He sits down beside me and starts flicking through the tv channels. His phone goes off and he stops to check it, stopping on the news. I watch and see the date in the lower right corner of the screen, December 18th. If my math is right, my pregnancy is at about 10 weeks. I feel a sharp pain in my stomach and I place my hand there.

"Evelyn did you hear me?" Patrick asks, hitting my arm.

"Today's the 18th?" I ask and he looks off to the side as he thinks. He finally nods and my breath hitches.

"Why?" He asks
