"Oh Corey you're so cute." Corey's mother comes running down the hallway, a dirty apron tied on her waist. She has dark wavy hair and I can see where Corey gets his looks from. She sees me and stops in her tracks when I smile at her, "Oh." She says and my heart skips.

"Hi. I'm Evelyn." I say, walking towards her. She gasps and kisses the tip of her fingers, flicking her hand into the air like a French chef does after tasting his food. She looks at Corey and then pulls me into a hug, squeezing me tightly. I laugh and hug her back, checking out the house behind her. The outside of the house is gorgeous. It's two stories in the middle of an upper class neighborhood. It's fancy but cozy at the same time.

"I'm Sylvia, it is so nice to meet you." His mother says, holding me at arms length. She pushes a piece of hair from my face and grabs at my cheeks.

"It's nice to meet you." I answer, my words slurred due to her distorting my face, "You have a beautiful home, I'm grateful to be here." Sylvia removes her hands from me and places one on her chest.

"I'm glad to have you." She smiles, "Okay, okay, how about you two get unpacked?" She looks at Corey as she speaks. He nods and says something in French before lifting our bags off the floor. I nod my head at Sylvia as we pass her by and go down the hallway. We go through a large family room, which is connected to the kitchen, and up a set of carpeted stairs. All of the doors upstairs are closed except for a large rustic bathroom to the right of the stairs. Corey goes to the last door on the left and opens it. I have to keep myself from giggling as we step inside. The walls are dark blue and covered with shelves. On every shelf is dozens and dozens of trophies. I couldn't even count them all if I wanted. On the walls themselves are hook with medals hanging and pictures of Corey as a kid playing hockey. There's sticks scattered throughout the room and goalie masks on their own bookshelf in the corner.

"Hm wouldn't be able to guess that you've been playing hockey for a while." I tease, sitting down on Corey's bed, the only thing that's not hockey themed. Corey rolls his eyes as he sets our luggage down and shrugs.

"We're unpacked." He says and I laugh. He plops down beside me and laces our fingers together.

"How do you feel?" He questions, using his other hand to touch my stomach. Goosebumps form on my skin and I shiver.

"Yea I'm fine. Not much morning sickness, yet. I didn't make it this far in the pregnancy last time so I don't know when it's coming." I say, looking at my tummy. There's definitely a bump but not too much. Corey hums and trails his hand up my stomach to my neck. He grabs my face and just looks at me for a second. I smile as he connects our lips, kissing me for a few moments. He pulls away briefly and we continue to make out for a little. I hear laughing downstairs and I remember where we are. I pull away from Corey and turn my head before he can kiss me again.

"Alright, Corey." I laugh as he kisses my cheek. I look at my phone and see I have no messages. I realize that I never told anyone I was coming to Canada. Not my family anyways.

"What's wrong?" Corey asks quietly

"Should I call my mom?" I ask and he sighs.

"Not if it'll make you upset." He says and I groan. I lay back, my head hitting the pillow. Corey shifts and lays down with me, his head resting on my chest.

"Can we take a nap?" I mumble, closing my eyes

"Why not." He replies and I fall asleep almost instantly.

I wake up and shift around, trying to get comfortable again. Once I do I hear a dog barking and I become more aware of my surroundings. The room is pitch black and Corey is no where to be found. I sigh and get up, running my fingers through my hair. I feel around for the door and open it, being blinded by the light coming from the hallway. I step out of Corey's bedroom and to the bathroom. I do my business and fix myself up a little before padding down the stairs. Everyone is sat at the small table in the kitchen and their attention turns towards me. I smile and I can feel my face turning red. A black German Shepard comes charging towards me and I back away from him. Corey stands up and grabs the dogs collar.

"Cmon, Spooky." He sighs and tugs him away from me.

"You named your dog Spooky?" I snort and I hear Trevor laughing.

"He never was very creative." Trevor says and I giggle. Spooky looks at me before curling up under the table. Corey sits back down at his seat and I sit in the chair next to him.

"I'm not letting you name the kids." I tease, not paying attention

"Oh my, Evelyn. I'm so happy for you guys!" Sylvia chimes and I laugh

"Thank you. I'm excited." I answer and she nods

"Me too, I never thought Corey was gonna get around to having kids." She whispers and Corey groans.

"Ok, mom. We're leaving." He says and him and Trevor stand up.

"Where are you going?" I ask

"Trev and I wanna play hockey at the old rink." He says and I laugh

"Okay have fun." I say and Corey leans down to kiss me.

"Do you wanna come?" Trevor asks and I shake my head

"No I can't skate, thanks though." I reply and he tuts. My face reddens again as the two take off. I look at Corey's mother and she smiles at me.

"Evelyn you're so pretty." She sighs and I smile

"Thank you. You raised a beautiful guy. I never thought I would meet anyone half as kind as he is." I say and she chuckles.

"I'm genuinely happy for you. Sure I would've liked to have known you before I knew you were having kids, but no harm done." She assures

"Thank you. I'm sorry that it happened so... suddenly. I'm glad you and your family took it so well." I answer, thinking of my mother.

"What do you mean by that? Was your mother upset?" Sylvia questions and I sigh

"It's a long story. My life is a long story. A long complicated story." I whisper and she grabs my hands from across the table.

"Well pumpkin, I got news for you; With the good comes the bad. Without it it's not life."
