It's been really difficult the past few months. I'm trying to keep up a healthy relationship with Nick, and also keep my amazing friendship with Glen. It's so hard. When Nick asks me how I'm doing, I can't really tell him. Most of my days are still spent with Glen, so I have to lie and say that I spent them with someone else. Christy has kindly volunteered to be my scapegoat. I love that girl. I really do.

Since that night, no one really likes Nick very much any more. I'm not really surprised to be honest. He makes everything so uncomfortable nowadays. Glen isn't allowed anywhere near us when we go out, and that makes everyone on edge. I can't relax. I'm really quite miserable.

Anyway, it's my birthday and we're all going out. And by all, I mean all.I don't give a toss what Nick thinks. My night, my rules. And Glen is coming out too. And I will have fun, damn it! You only turn 21 once.

Nick knows. He's not happy. But he knows. And he promised not to be a prick. And Glen said he would stay well clear of him. But I want them both there. And I desperately want them to eventually get on. So maybe my birthday will be that kick they need to put their differences aside.

I'm in my room, getting changed, when there's a knock on my door. Nick is in the shower, so I assume it's one of my house-mates. I open it, and see Glen. He looks nervous.

“You alright?” I ask.

“Yeah.”

“You're not.”

“No. I'm not. I'm just...I don't want to ruin your night.”

“You won't. I want you there.”

“But he doesn't.”

“He isn't my boss. It's my birthday. And you're coming.”

The bathroom door opens and Nick sees Glen at my door. He's immediately at my side, kissing me full on in front of Glen. I push him away.

“What the fuck, Nick?” I snap. He glares at Glen.

“Just claiming what's mine,” he says and walks into my room.

I look at Glen apologetically. He looks really upset and uncomfortable.

“Ignore him. Please.”

He nods and walks off. This is not going to be fun after all...

The night is well under way, and to be honest, it's really awkward. Each pub we go to, Nick is plastered to my side, not letting me breath. Any time Glen even glances at me, Nick is all over me. It's sickening. I keep telling him to back off and let me talk to other people, but he just gets really angry with me. What is his problem?

We've eventually ended up in our favourite club. This is where I'm going to relax. This is where my birthday will finally come together. I will get drunk, and I will have fun. Even if it kills me.

I immediately let go of Nick, tell the guys to find us a seat and head straight for the bar. I need me some shots. I down a couple few shots in quick succession and hear that familiar laugh behind me. I smile and spin around.

“Slow down, girl,” he chuckles. “Anyone would think you're drinking to forget something.”

“You know exactly how this night is going. I need to have some fun.”
