My mom was sitting in the front seat of the car crying.

"What's going on, dad? Who died?" I was starting to worry, were we moving? Had someone gone to the hospital? So many questions were going through my mind.

"No one died, I'll tell you when we're a little while out of town." We hopped in, I didn't even bother to look at my phone or listen to my iPod, I was so worried. As soon as we were out of the state my dad started talking.

"So, Aubrey, you aren't exactly who you think you are." My mom started crying again.

"Wha-what do you mean?" I asked, my heart was racing.

"You are Jessica Ukavich, the princess of Siberia, or at least, you were."

"You're kidding, right?" I asked him, a wide smile spread across my face. My dad had always been a really good practical jokester, after almost seventeen years of living with him I'd grown accustomed to all of his jokes. I knew the punch-line was coming. But I didn't know it would hit me so hard.

I put in my headphones, obviously we were going on a trip. We usually went on vacation every May, it was only January, but my dad had tried a joke somewhat similar to this before, I believed him and thought we were going to visit my birth parents until he told me they lived on Mars, and were going to catch a flight there. My mom had always been a very good actress, so it made sense that she was bawling. We were driving through the country and I wondered why we were so far away, I hadn't seen a town in the last hour. That was when we drove up to a very large hotel.

Great, so when you're driving in the country side to get absolutely nowhere, you can stop at this run down hotel! Perfect.

My dad stopped the truck and got in the back with me, I could tell he was serious, so I took out my headphones and listened.

"We haven't been completely honest with you, Aubrey. We were never going to tell you, we thought the search was over. But, then they started it up again and it scared us. So we thought we would take you here." My dad put his hand on my shoulder, I pulled it off.

"What do you mean? I'm seriously that princess?! Wait, you KIDNAPPED me?!" I backed away from him.

"No, well, yes, but there's more to the story. Would you like to hear the whole story?" I was scared, and confused.

"Go on." I replied, staring out the window, not wanting to look at either of them.

"It all started the day you were born. Your parents loved you very much, but they had terrible enemies. One of them was a man named Eduardo Martinez. He was from Brazil, he not only wanted your parents wealth, but he was out for their blood. They knew that if he couldn't get to them, he would take you from them in a second. So they sent you to us. You see, we are part of a program for children of very important people, who need to be taken into hiding. Some of the children no one knows about because the day they were born they were taken here, and the family told the public there had been a miscarriage, or the child was still-born. Your parents tried to fight him off for about three weeks, until they realized they couldn't handle him any longer. They sent you to the program's main office, where you stayed for a week. They didn't know who to send you to, and you were too young to come here. The CEO, my boss, knew we were having troubles having children, so he asked us if we would take you,NAND we thought you were just a miracle from God! And then, four months after we took you in, the monarchy of Siberia was overthrown by no other than Eduardo Martinez." We sat in silence for a while, and then I asked him,

"Since they weren't important anymore, why didn't you send me back to my birth parents?"

He sighed.
