It was happening and Calum was really worried.

It all started last night when Sophie and he were watching movies late into the night when he noticed how cute she looked with the TV light reflecting against her face. And how small she looked and how well she fit under his arm.

He was starting to develop feelings for his best friend.

And that was not good, it was very not good.

"Hey Cal you ok?" Sophie asked looking over at him from where he was zoning out

"Yeah" he smiled but she could tell it was forced. She let it giving him a smile in return before turning back to the pancakes she was making

"What smells so good?" Nate asked walking into the kitchen

"Nate!" Sophie smiled going over and leaping into her brother's arms

"Hey little sis, how you doing?" Nate asked letting her down and smiling at his younger sister

"Um" she said looking back at Calum who urged her to tell him "Actually I have something to tell you"

"Oh, ok what's up?" he asked getting serious

"You have to promise not to freak out" she said first off

"I'll try my best" he said knowing that he'll probably get upset but he has to be there for his sister

"So um you know how I'm dating Wyatt" she started pulling her sleeves down

"Oh hell no, he didn't touch you did he?" Nate said

"Um" she said starting to get choked up, Calum walked over putting a reassuring arm around her shoulder and rubbing her arm

"Oh my god Soph" Nate said sadly

"I um" she said but stopped and just pulled up her sleeves

"Holy shít" Nate gasped looking down at her purple bruised arms "He's so dead, I'm gonna fúcking kill him"

"Nate please don't" Sophie begged grabbing his wrist to hold him back

"He hurt you Sophie, he fúcking hurt you. He physically harmed you and you expect me to do nothing?" he asked appalled

"She just wants to talk to you and figure something out as siblings before you do anything stupid, it won't help anything to beat him up it just makes him more mad, trust me I would know" Calum said holding Sophie closer

"Did you get a good punch in?" he asked smirking

"Plenty" Calum said covering her ears

"Ok that makes me feel better" Nate took a deep breath as Calum uncovered Sophie's ears "Ok, so let's talk about this and think of a good solution"

"So you think we shouldn't go to the cops?" Nate asked confused eating some of the now finished pancakes

"He hasn't done anything" Sophie said quietly

"That's an understatement" Nate muttered

"He can get in trouble for that Soph" Calum said

"Yeah but then he gets out and then what? He comes after me? You?" she said "I don't see the positive in that"

"Ok so we tell mom and dad and they talk to Wyatt's parents? What happens after that?" Calum asked

"Have you broken up with him?" Nate asked

"Not formally, no" Sophie shook her head

"That's number one, we'll go with you" Nate said gesturing to himself and Calum

"And then Wyatt's parents talk to Wyatt and hopefully move him to Antarctica or jail" Calum muttered

"And then we just keep you safe and happy" Nate added

"I'll break up with him tomorrow" Sophie said picking at her food

"I can't do it tomorrow. I'm going back to school late tonight" Nate said

"I'll go don't worry" Calum stepped up

"Ok great, mom and dad will be home soon and your family is coming over for dinner" Nate said pointing to Calum

"I don't want to have a family dinner" Sophie pouted

"I can get us out of it" Calum said making her smile over at him. He gave her a small smile and then looked down at his hand because those stupid feelings were resurfacing. He knew that this was the worse time for these feelings because she was in a rough time and she just needed a friend not uncertain feelings.

"Hello darlings, how are my children?" Susan asked coming up from behind Nate and kissing his cheek

"Hi mum" Calum smiled

"Hi sweet heart" Susan chuckled walking over and kissing Calum on the cheek

"Mom are we having family dinner tonight?" Sophie asked

"Um yeah, why are you trying to get out of it?" Susan asked with a raised eyebrow

"Well um" Sophie stuttered looking over at Calum for help

"We preordered tickets to see the premiere of Scorch Trials and we didn't know that we had a family dinner" Calum said

"Oh so you guys already bought tickets?" Susan asked

"Yeah, we got them a while back completely spacing on dinner" Calum said

"Oh you guys are fine. I expect to see you guys next week" she joked kissing both their foreheads before leaving the room

"Do you have to go buy some tickets?" Nate asked as Calum and Sophie stood up

"Yep" Sophie nodded walking next to Calum as they left the house

"Didn't Scorch Trials come out like a month ago?" Sophie asked

"Absolutely" Calum smiled putting his arm around Sophie's shoulder making her laugh and put her arm around his waist.

"Well what a great movie that was" Sophie laughed as they walked out of the ice cream shop

"Yeah watching people for an hour and half was just fascinating" Calum laughed

"Sophie? Calum?" the two heard someone call their names. They turned and saw Elizabeth with her boyfriend Drew walking over to them

"Hey Liz" Sophie smiled giving her a quick hug

"Hey Sophie" Drew smiled

"Hey Drew" Sophie smiled giving him a quick hug after Calum and him did a bro hug

"What are you two doing?" Elizabeth asked

"Avoiding family dinner" Calum said putting his arm around Sophie's waist as she leaned into his side

"Well that sounds fun" Elizabeth laughed

"What are you guys doing?" Sophie asked the couple

"Just going on a date to a fancy restaurant" Elizabeth said looking over at Drew fondly

"Well that sounds fun" Calum smiled

"Hey mom said we have to head back" Sophie said quietly to Calum

"Well we have to head back but it was good seeing you guys" Calum smiled saying their goodbyes before Calum and Sophie walked back home

"They would make a really cute couple" Drew said watching them walk with Calum's arm around Sophie's waist

"You're preaching to the choir babe"
