The Lazy Song

"Mom honestly I'm fine I just need some time alone" Sophie frowned trying to close her door but her mom kept putting her foot in the way

"I just don't want you to be alone" Susan said sadly 

"I'm fine mom" Sophie rolled her eyes "I can handle myself" 

"I know, I just worry"

"Well don't, Wyatt is in jail so we don't have to worry about him anymore" she said bitterly closing the door and locking it before going over to her bed and lying down. 

"Soph" someone knocked on her door 

"Go away, I'm fine!" she yelled annoyed and then groaned into a pillow 

"Fine then I'll just pick the lock" Calum said leaning against the doorway smiling 

"Calum" she smiled running to the door and opening it, she threw her arms around his neck and hugged him tightly. He grabbed her waist and spun her around as her legs went around his waist. 

"I missed you darling" he smiled 

"I missed you too" she smiled nuzzling her face into his neck 

"How are you feeling?" he asked setting her down and looking at her face

"I'm fine, but how are you?" she asked cupping his jaw and rubbing her thumb over his bruised cheek

"Just a little cut up, nothing to worry about" he smiled grabbing her hand and intertwining their fingers 

"A little cut up?" she scoffed 

"Hey, I'm ok I just got beat up I've been beat up before. You, you got traumatized. I can't even begin to imagine how that felt" he said looking down at the ground now  

"I don't want to talk about it" she whispered 

"I know, I know, but sooner or later we are going to talk about it" he said 

"Yeah I know" she said quietly rolling her eyes 

"Come on beautiful, we'll just lay down for now" he said leading her over to the bed and sitting on the edge. She sat down right next to him and fell back so her back hit the bed, he followed looking over at her as she looked at the ceiling. 

"I don't want to go back to school" she whispered 

"I know, but fall break is soon and I think we are planning on going to Tennessee" he smiled poking her side making her laugh "And I'll skip tomorrow with you if you want" 

"I do" she nodded looking over at him, making eye contact

"Then it's a date"

Sophie was sleeping on one side of the bed while Calum sat with his back against the headboard writing some songs. He looked over at Sophie and smiled before writing some lyrics down. He's been doing this since he woke up at noon, just relaxing and waiting for Sophie to wake up. He watched TV for a bit and then got bored with that and inspiration hit so he started to write. 

He writes with Luke, Ashton, and Michael usually but sometimes he writes alone. That's the perk of the band, getting to sing and perform your own songs. He's written his fair share of songs, but the other boys have too. They have enough for at least two albums, but they don't think they will ever be able to release them. 

Someone knocking on the door broke him out of his trance, he looked and saw Susan peak her head in. 

"Hi mom" he smiled 

"Hi sweetpea" she laughed "I'm heading off to a meeting, but Michael is here" 

"Ok" he smiled "Let him in" 

"Alrighty" she smiled closing the door before going downstairs to get Michael 

"Hey bro" Michael said closing the door behind him "You're looking a little beat up" 

"Hey mate" Calum smiled moving his feet so Michael could sit "Just a little, I've had better days" 

"I heard what happened" Michael said glancing at Sophie 

"Is the school talking about it?" 

"Yeah" Michael said quietly playing with his fingers 

"Dammit" Calum said sadly closing his book and rubbing his face with his hands. 

"Ashton and Luke beat some kid up today because they were talking shit" Michael smiled "And Elizabeth got into a girl fight because she was defending Wyatt" 

"Well damn, I stay home for one day" Calum whistled lowly, laughing a little bit 

"Is she ok?" Michael asked looking at Sophie 

"She will be" Calum said pushing a piece of loose hair back off of Sophie's face "She just needs to talk about it, but she doesn't want to right now"

"She'll talk to you, you're the only one she will probably talk to" Michael said now looking at Calum who was looking at Sophie. 

"I know" Calum sighed looking at Michael. They both looked over at Sophie as she started waking up. 

"Who's here?" she asked keeping her eyes closed 

"Michael" Calum said as she sat up and rubber under her eyes, because she forgot to take her makeup off. 

"Hi Mikey" she smiled at Michael before looking over at Calum "What time is it?" 

"2ish" he said looking at his phone 

"You slept all day?" Michael laughed 

"We went to bed late" she glared playfully at him "Where is everyone?" 

"Well Elizabeth, Luke, and Ashton are in detention, Fae is doing some after school something, and I don't know where Lexie is" 

"Wait why are they in detention?" Sophie asked worried, sitting up quickly 

"Um no reason, why don't you go get some breakfast and we'll be right down" Calum offered 

"Ok" she said hestiantly, she got up and grabbed Calum's shirt throwing it over her tank top before walking downstairs 

"Do not tell her that people are talking about it at school ok? If you get uncomfortable, I'll step in but there is no way she is gonna know people are talking about her at school" Calum said standing up and pulling on some pants. 

"What about tomorrow when she goes to school?" Michael asked standing up as well 

"I will figure it out then, but for now keep her out of the loop" Calum said poking Michael in the chest before walking downstairs to Sophie. 

"Well geez ok, she's out of the loop"

"I'm pretty sure we started our day like this" Sophie said as they sat on the bed 

"It's just a lazy day" Calum shrugged 

"Well tomorrow is gonna be awful so I needed this" Sophie said falling back 

"We'll get through it, you're strong and i know you can make it" Calum said propping his head up with his elbow 

"I hope you're right" she sighed her eyes slowly closing 

"I know I am" he whispered as she fell asleep "I know I am"
