Walking along the hallway of our school, I realized that my peaceful life has now officially changed. In all honesty, Logan's proposal isn't all that bad. It is actually good and probably even better for me. Atleast I get to have someone to eat dinner with so I won't have to eat alone. I now even have a reason to study everyday because I am obliged to do so. So i guess, all in all, this is for the better--I hope.
But I can deal with that later. I went to my locker to get my things: lab gown, mask, gloves, and dissecting kit. More than my problem with Logan, I facing an even bigger problem now--Anatomy. Anatomy isn't actually that hard to understand, but it is hard to study. It's like trying to fit in all seasons and episodes of Friends or your favorite tv series into a one gigabyte flash drive; where the episodes are all the things I should remember, and the flash drive is my brain. Sometimes it feels impossible, that is why you should find creative ways to remember stuff. Acrostics, mnemonics, repetition--whatever works for you. For me, mnemonics work best. The weirder the better.
As I closed my locker, I was startled by the face of Tiffany. Eyebrows arched, eyes narrowed, and lips on a thin line: the tell tale signs of a pissed off friend. "Hi Tiffy! You look pretty today, new lipstick?" I said with a nervous smile, hoping I could escape her wrath.
"Yes, my lipstick is new but that's not what I want to talk about. You," pointing a finger at me, "totally ditched me yesterday!"
"I was just running late for the meeting I had a yesterday. I'm sorry." I said with the best puppy eyes I could muster.
"Not only that! You came in late during the lecture and you did not even sit with me! And by dismissal you were already gone!" she was now puffing her cheeks and was pouting.
"Ok, ok, stop being such a baby, let's just go to the cafeteria and I'll treat you with some chocolate milk." I said while wrapping an arm around her shoulder.
"You really think you can buy me with a cup of chocolate?" She countered, raising an eyebrow.
"With an ice cold cup of creamy chocolate? Yes, I think I can. You'd even give me your soul for that." I answered while chuckling.
"You're exaggerating!" She shouted, "but ok, I'm sold. Whatever. Come on!" She added grabbing my hand and dragged me to the cafeteria.
"Ok. I'm not angry anymore." She said while sipping her drink. "But you still have to update me on who you were meeting with yesterday."
"Ok fine. This is going to be a long story, you ready?" I asked.
"Yes! Ofcourse!" She answered, beaming.
So I told her how I almost got thrown in jail because I thought Logan was a thief and how I ended up having a deal with him to become his dinner slash study buddy for the whole semester. After telling her all this, Tiffany was silent, her eyes wide, and was clearly in shock. "You almost got thrown in jail and now you are stuck with Logan Hart for a semester? For god sakes, Logan? Of all people in the world, him?!" I could hear a hint of worry in her voice.
"I know it's a bit weird, but I have no choice. And Logan had been good to me so far." As I said this, Tiffany rolled her eyes in disapproval. "Do you have a problem with Logan? Do you know him?" I asked.
"No, I don't have a problem with him. I knew him before. But it's not that relevant. Just promise me you'll be careful around him." She said in a serious tone.
Nodding, "uhm, ok. I promise. Why are you so worried? Is there anything I need to know?" I probed.
With that she just smiled, shook her head and grabbed my hand, "Nothing! Come on! Time to dissect a cadaver!"
