“Well you did really well these past three days, so you are going to be allowed to be sent home today,” I was half listening to what Sue was telling me, but when I heard her say that I could leave my ears perked up.

“I can go home?” a smile threatened to form on my face.

“As soon as Paul comes to get you, you can go” she was at her desk, across from me filling out some paperwork.

A few moments before she had called me into her office to talk, and now I was receiving the best news I have heard all week.

“Do you know when he gets here?” I asked, not being able to contain my excitement any longer.

“He said he would come get you in a few hours. He had to pick up the boys from some interview, but he did say I could give you your phone back,” she reached into one of her drawers and produced my white iPhone.

I greedily reached for it and held it to my chest as soon as I managed to clutch it.

“I missed you so much!” I cried.

Sue rolled her eyes at my childish banter and shooed me out of her office.

“Go pack up Violet, you get to leave this hell hole,” a smirk plastered her face, and this caused me to let out a laugh, “Oh and Violet?”

“Yeah?” I turned to face her as I was already halfway out the door.

“Stay strong” all games were put aside, she intended this for me to take to heart.

I nodded, assuring her that I would get better. Then I turned to leave and I skipped down the hall. Skidding to a stop in front of my room, I pulled the door open and found Sage sitting on my bed, staring listlessly at the floor.

“Hey, what’s wrong?” my smile dropping as soon as I felt the gloomy mood.

“I heard that you were leaving…” she didn’t look away from where she had her eyes glued.

“Oh…I am” I sat down next to her, pulling her in for a hug.

She leaned her head on my shoulder, with my arms around her I felt her own shoulders begin to move up and down. Was she crying? Sage was rock solid, always strong. Was she letting me see her vulnerable side?  Did this mean she trusted me? I heard her clear her throat to speak.

“I’m leaving too…” she whispered, I tightened my hug, not wanting to let go of the older girl.

“Isn’t that a good thing?” my thoughts flashed back to what Sage had told me about her living conditions. How her sister wasn’t the best guardian out there.

“What do you think?” her voice was thick, and I could tell she was fighting back another onslaught of tears.

“Maybe we could ask Paul if you could live with us. I do need a female roommate and someone to help me deal with those five idiots,” she lifted her head off my shoulder and was staring at me wide eyed and in disbelief.

“Would you seriously do that for me?” I actually couldn’t see why Paul wouldn’t allow it, I mean, he did take me in and Sage really needed it.

“Of course,” I got up, bringing her up with me, “Shall we get everything packed?”

“Are you sure about this?” her questioning made me roll my eyes.

“Yes, now come on!”

I dragged her down the hall, all the way to her room. We stepped inside and she and I began to stuff her belonging into her duffel bag. I reached under the bed and pulled out her box of trinkets. I gently placed it at the top of the rest of her stuff and zipped it up. She was at one of the nightstands pulling out her toiletries, and putting them into her smaller bag.
