*Violet’s POV*

“Sage, we’re home,” I called out the second we walked back into the flat.

The blonde poked her head up and I spotted her wrapped up in a blanket on the couch. To say she looked like a total mess would be an understatement. But she looked like a total mess.

“Are you feeling okay?” I approached her and noticed that her eyes were red and puffy. Her hair was a birds nest on her head and she looked exhausted.

“No,” she bluntly said.

“What’s wrong?” I scooted her over, making enough room for me to sit by her.

“Everything,” she mumbled.

I feared that in her condition she would have relapsed so I pulled the blanket back. She was wearing an old hoodie and her favorite sweats.

“Sage?” I asked.

“Hmm?”

“Did you relapse?” her eyes widened slightly, but she rolled up her sleeves to show me.

There she had a new set of burns. She had used a cigarette butt again.

“Sage, why?” I asked, not raising my voice, or showing any anger. I knew damn well how it felt to be in that position.

“I didn’t cut, I was going to, but I didn’t…” she pulled her sleeve back down.

“But you still hurt yourself,” I threw the blanket off of her and grabbed her gently by the wrist. I guided her to the bathroom and sat her on the toilet seat.

“What are you doing?” she asked, hugging her arm to her body, “And where’s Noah?”

“I am going to patch you up, and Garret took him to the park. They are just across the street,” I looked under the bathroom sink, and found what I had been searching for.

Sage silently watched as I rolled her sleeve back up. I took out one of the alcohol wipes and began to gently dab at the raw skin. Sage didn’t even flinch, it probably had to do with the fact that at one point she had severed nerve endings and now parts of her arms had lost feeling.

Once I had cleaned up enough, I wiped on some ointment, it would help with any future scarring. Then I took out the roll of gauze. Before wrapping it around her arm, I placed some cotton pads on top of the majorly injured area and then proceeded to wrap around.

“So how did it go at the doctor’s?” Sage broke the silence; her eyes remained glued to where I was working on her.

I froze; I hadn’t expected to share this news with anyone yet. But Sage was my best friend, and I couldn’t just keep her in the dark. Before she realized something was wrong I finished up wrapping her arm, and clipped it with one of the metal clips.

“There, all done,” I leaned back and admired my handy work.

“Violet, I asked you a question,” I knew she wasn’t going to drop it. She had noticed.

“Uhm, can we discuss this over some tea?” I asked her, hoping she would agree.

“Fine,” she rose from her perch and exited the bathroom.

I followed her out and met her in the kitchen. She had already taken out two mugs and had put the tea bags inside. I went ahead and filled the kettle with water and placed it on the stove.

“Violet, what is the matter?” Sage being Sage, she didn’t even let the tea brew before she was already demanding answers.

“You really want to know?” I sighed.
