I had been working at Sterling-Hamilton for two weeks. Every day was full of work; besides Mr. Dickhead kept calling me in the middle of the night to meet him very early at the office and I arrived really late to the hotel. That day he didn't call so I could sleep a couple of extra hours. I was staying at a different hotel that the one Marissa left me. This one was cheaper and I could afford an extra week that finished in a couple of days. My balance account was $30dls and I wouldn't receive my paycheck until the end of the month. Great, just freaking great!

That day I woke up feeling the usual monthly cramps on my belly meaning that my period had arrived. Yei!! I took a warm bath and got ready to go to the firm. I left my hair loose in its natural waves and applied some makeup. Luckily, Marissa left me plenty of her clothes and since we are almost the same size I only had to do some adjustments to the clothing, so I wore an olive green dress with a lace on the waist band a pair of nude pumps and a beige blazer up to my elbows and I left for work. I took a cup of coffee and some painkillers to help me with the cramps and my mood.

When the elevator's doors opened I saw Lucy sitting at the front desk with a worried look on her face. She gave me an apologetic look and signaled me the boss's door. I approached quickly to the front desk.

"The hell got loose" She whispered to me. "We lost the law suit against McFarland."

"What? No way!"

"The boss is waiting for you." She said worriedly.

"Why? Did I do something wrong?" I half whispered and Lucy gave me an apologetic look.

I walked to my office and left my purse on the desk. I knocked softly on the door and there was no response. I knocked again but nobody answered. I opened the door slowly to see if Mr. Sterling was inside. When I poked my head inside, I saw him sitting on the couch with his elbows on his knees. His hair was all messed up going in different directions and his tie was hanging loose.

"Mr. Sterling." I said a little nervous. "I'm here."

He looked up and glared at me. I felt my heart pounding faster; his eyes were cold and full of anger.

"Bennett!"

"Yes sir?" I jumped on my spot at the tone of his voice.

"Did you or didn't you send the agreement to McFarland's attorneys? He asked pretty annoyed.

"You told me to wait." I answered back.

"Did you or didn't you?!" He raised the tone of his voice and that made me flinch.

"No, I didn't. You told me to wait until you said so." I replied trying to remember his exact words.

"So you didn't send it!" He scratched the back of his head furiously.

"No." I said honestly.

"Dammit, Bennett!" He yelled and punched his desk with his fist.

"But you told me to wait for your instructions." I said worriedly but in a firm tone.

"I told you to send it immediately" He approached to where I was standing.

"No, you..." I replied but he cut me off.

"Are you stupid?!" He was so close to me I could feel his minty breath on my face. His face was red in anger, and a vein on his forehead had popped up.

"What?"  I asked back

I felt my heart pounding on my throat. Has he called me stupid? Really?

"I asked you if you are stupid Bennett!" He yelled very close to my face.

Ok. That's it. I didn't care if he fired me or I went to jail. I was not going to let him insult me.
