Christina POV:
I leaned against the barbed wire fence and took in a deep breath as I pulled out her little mirror and darkened my eye-liner and applied a few more heavy coats of mascara. The hot afternoon sun burned my exposed legs and soaked into my black sweater. Where was Tristan?
Right on cue I saw him appear, his sling bag waggling beside him.
"How long does it take" I said "to find a decent packet of cigarettes?"
He laughed as he tossed the cigarettes at me "Chill, Chris"
I popped the cigarette into my mouth, lit it, and let the smoke burn into me. I offered him the packet but he shook his head.
"Chris, I'm trying to stop" he said looking at me with his bright blue eyes.
I grimaced at him and put the pack down by my foot as I slid down onto the grass. I glared at Tristan, after all we'd been through he was slowly changing. Becoming more like his younger brother.
It was 1:00 in the afternoon and we were both supposed to be in school. Normally Tristan would skip out with me but now he'd only come thrice a month at the maximum. He said he was going to stop smoking and was going to try and go back into his studies. He got a haircut and took out his piercings. He was turning into his younger brother, you could just see it, he was changing.
After an awkwardly long silence Tristan said "Christina, I think you need some help"
I laughed not only at the fact that he used my name but at the fact that he acted like he cared for me "Yeah, Tris."
"No, I'm serious, we're graduating this year. Don't you wanna leave this hole without smoking and drinking everyday?"
"Baby" I said rolling my eyes "I'm fine. If I want to I can just stop coming to school and go get a job out- like somewhere"
Tristan laughed "As if you can get a job"
I was about to retort but then I bit my lip and said "You know, Tris, you're being a dick"
"Oh, I'm being a dick?"
I leaned forward to him and blew a cloud of smoke into his face "Yeah, you are" I whispered.
He looked at me with disgust "You smell like cigarette shit".
I winked and leaned back into my former position.
He adjusted his beanie and then lied down on the grass. I could't help but look at him.
"It's effing hot out here. How the hell are you wearing pants, a sweater, and a beanie?" I asked
Tristan giggled "Bet you want me to take 'em off, don't you? Plus, this coming from a girl wearing all black."
"I like black"
"I noticed"
We sat in silence again. I took out my small flask of whisky and took a swig from it. I offered some to Tris who just looked at me like I was crazy and then decided he would leave.
"It's nearly 2:00" he said
"So?"
He looked at me with pity "I actually want to make it to college, Chris. I wish you would, too."
He got up and left me with an empty flask of whisky and the cigarettes.
I shrugged it off and closed my eyes to the bright white sun
Connor POV:
"I'm sorry!" I said as I felt around the floor for my glasses.
"Sorry isn't good enough, you prick"
Well, I can't do anything else I thought as I grasped what I thought were my glasses.
"How could you screw this up?" my bully said kicking me on my side.
I rolled onto the ground. Shit, this wasn't good.
I fumbled with my glasses and managed to put them on. James Hart glared at me for not finishing his maths homework on time.
"Please, just- how about I do it now?" I stammered as I got onto my feet. I was taller than James but not tall in that strikingly handsome way that the ladies go nuts over. I was tall, skinny, and just- you know, a stick.
James grabbed my collar "It's too late, bitch"
"Whoa." I said adjusting my glasses "Language."
I knew it. I asked for that punch.
I grabbed my side and whistled a small tune, pain was stretching all over my body.
"Why didn't you do it earlier?" he asked stepping closer to me.
I hopped from one foot to the next, nervous "As much as it seems unlikely, James. I kind of have a life"
I dodged his second blow by an inch.
"What playing Pokemon on your stupid ass computer?" he said coming after me.
"No" I said drumming my fingers on my thighs. Run away, idiot. Run a fudging way my head told me.
James laughed and punched me straight in the stomach,
Yeah…should have run away.
I started running. Better late than never, huh?
How to survive high school if you're a total loser like me? Well, take PE seriously. Cardio, guys. Cardio. That'll also help you when the Zombie Apocalypse strikes.
Another tip? Don't forget to do the bully's homework.
I heard James running after me. Yay… fun.
"Shit!" I half sang as I ran through a crowd of freshman "Hi, there" I said to Mary as I pushed past.
Mary was a freshman, yes, and yeah I was a Senior but I mean. She was way too mature for her age… and she was smart. I liked smart.
"Twinge" I heard James yell.
I began to run again. Yeah, thats my name. Connor Twinge.
Fucking epic..
I tried to jump over the fence but my legs decided to fail me, causing me to land flat on my face. I heard my glasses snap.
Brilliant.
I felt them to see the damage the glass was fine my the frame had cracked. I put them back on and ran again. I was going up the hill when I saw Tristan Brown appear, walking down, looking highly disturbed.
"Hi Tristan!" I said, still running. He didn't reply me as usual.
I stopped dead, as I saw Christina Pierce smirk at me and wave a packet of cigarettes. I walked towards her knowing that if James found me with her, he'd back off.
"Hey, nerd" Christina said blowing a cloud of smoke.
"Hi." I said looking around.
"Want one?"
"Nah, I'm good."
She offered me a flask that I guessed was with alcohol.
"Take some"
I walked closer to her and took the bottle as I opened the flask.
She (thankfully) shut her eyes as I tossed some whisky over my shoulder.
"Yum" I said handing back the flask. She opened her eyes and smirked at me.
"Good job, nerd. First taste?"
"Nah.."
"Whatever" she said lying down. What the hell was wrong with this girl? I didn't understand her, but then again, I didn't really understand people.
I took off my glasses and put one of the arms into my mouth and chewed on it, slightly. I could somewhat see, but it was all blurry. Really blurry.
"Hey, Nerd." I turned to look at Christina who had now taken off her jumper and was in a black tank top "How about I offer you a deal?"
