Chapter 5:

Connor POV:

The next day I bumped into Mary who turned a bright red when she saw me.

"Hey, Connor" she said adjusting her black dress. I smiled. Today she was in a small black dress with dark blue leggings and dark red converse. She wasn't wearing any make-up which made her look even more beautiful than usual. I took her hand and pushed it onto my lips "You look nice" I said letting go of her hand.

She rolled her eyes "False flattery will get you nowhere, Con"

"Con?" I raised my eye-brows "Well, if we're giving each other nicknames. I better give you one. I suck at giving nick names, mind you, so.."

She laughed and I glanced up at the clock. It was nearly time for class and I was nowhere near the science labs "Alright, Mar."

She burst out into hysterical laughter.

I smiled "I better go to Science. I'll see you after"

She left. I watched her for some  time until she disappeared across the bend and I ran to class.

I felt the back of my bag for my swiss army knife. Yep.

Wait..why did I- fudge you, ADHD.

As soon as I sat down the bell rang. Thank the lord.

Wait.

I adjusted my father's glasses that I now wore all the time and I tried to recall last night. Did I do Christina's homework?

Fudge.

I grabbed at my hair and pulled at it. Yay! I'm going to get my ass kicked by some gothic creepy chick. Not that that was new. I got beaten up by girls millions of times before.

Fudge, fudge, fudge.

I'm pretty sure I told you this before, but never forget to do a bully's homework. Christina was a type of bully.

Wait a second. Couldn't I just break the agreement? I mean I was sort of getting on with Mary by myself, right?

I smiled and relaxed. I'd just break the deal.

***

After class I saw Christina talking to Tristan. She looked different. Hmm..

I walked up to her and when I saw her face I realised something was very wrong.

She wasn't wearing that much make-up. She just had a slight outline around her eyes, but her lips weren't a creepy purple, red, or black. My jaw dropped open. She was Tristan's height and Tristan was nearly my height.

She wasn't even wearing black. She was in a beige cardigan and green shorts.

My mouth moved, but no words came out.

"Connor?" she said smiling at me. Even her teeth looked different. They looked quite shar-

"Connor?" She sang out "You alright?"

"I'm…" I stammered "fine."

I shut my eyes hoping that when I opened them she'd be back to her brooding, scary self. I opened them and Tristan and her were staring at me like I was crazy.

"Connor" she said wrapping her arms around Tristan "I'm breaking the deal"

"Oh" I said relieved. That saved me  from more talking "Thanks. Yeah, thats what I wanted to…"

I spun around on my heels and said bye before walking/sprinting to my next class.

What the hell just happened?
