11/Buried Alive

 "C'mon guys! Hurry up! We gotta find Mike!" 

 "Hey, I'm kind of gimping out here guys. I think maybe you should go on without me," Chris says.

  "We're sticking together, Mike can wait," I say placing my hand on his shoulder. Sam gives us a look. 

 "Since when did you two become so close?" She asks.

 "It's kind of a long story. I'll explain once we get somewhere safe," I say. We continue to walk. We reach a steel door and Sam attempts to open it. 

 "Shit! Mike must've locked it behind him. Crap! There has to be another way in." 

 "Wait, what about this?" Ashley says. I walk over to her. There's a large circle in the ground that must lead to a sewer. 

 "Well it's not like we've got a whole lot of choices here," Sam says helping Ashley remove the lid.

 "Okay this is maybe the last place I would wanna be right now." 

 "So who's going first?" Sam asks. When no one responses she gets onto the ladder.

 "It's not so bad. You think this is the tunnel to the Sanitorium?" 

 "Of course it is. Where else would it go?" 

 "Are you gonna be okay going down there?" I ask Chris. 

 "Yeah I'll be fine," he says. He goes down the ladder, Ashley and I follow. 

 "Hey, we should close this right? I mean what if something's following us," Ashley says. 

 "Yes fine. Close it, but we gotta keep moving. Can you just catch up?"  

 "Yeah," Ashley says. Sam, Chris, and I continue to walk. 

 "So what's up with you two?" Sam asks. 

 "What do you mean?"

 "You said it's a long story, I have some time."

 "We're.....um....well..." I trail off.

 "Are you guys dating now or something?" 

 "Not officially, but yeah. I think we are," Chris smiles wrapping my hand in his. We walk for another ten minutes until we see Ashley again. 

 "Thank god you're safe. Now let's keep moving," Sam says, following the path. 

 "Look...look there," Ashley says as we walk into a clearing. The path doesn't continue, instead there's a large stone wall with the rest of the tunnel continuing at the top. The ladders to get there are busted. 

 "I think I can get up there, it's like a rock wall," Sam says. 

 "I'm gonna keep going, you should head back to the lodge I've gotta get Mike," Sam tells us.

 "Good luck," Ashley says. We turn around and begin to walk back. 

 "Do you think everyone else is alright?" I ask. 

 "I hope so," Chris sighs. 

 "I can't believe Emily's gone, I don't think I'll ever be able to get that image out of my head," I say my eyes welling up with tears. 

 "The fact that she died for no reason, it's just so awful. I mean less than a day ago she was still alive, and now she's just gone," I continue as we walk.

 "C'mon we should hurry up, who knows what's down here," Ashley says changing the subject. 

 "Yeah, let's get out of here and back up to the lodge," Chris agrees. An awkward silence follows as we walk to the way out. 

 "I'll go up first," Ashley says stepping onto the ladder. I let Chris go after her and then climb up. 

 "Should we go back to the safe room?" Ashley asks. 

 "No, I can't see Emily's body again, we can check and see if the main floor is safe," I say. 

 "Alright, let's hurry up. It's almost dawn, the sooner we get out of this place the better," Chris says. I nod and we follow the tunnel until we're back in the basement. 

 "I'm gonna run and grab that old guy's bag really quickly, just in case. You guys stay here," Ashley says before running to where the safe room is. 

 "Do you think anyone will come for us?" I ask Chris. 

 "Someone will. Someone has to," he says. 

 "I'm scared Chris. I'm so fucking scared that we're not going to survive this."

 "Hey, it's all gonna be okay. I'm gonna get us out of here alive. I promise," he says before kissing me. 

 "I hope you're right," I sigh. Ashley walks back over to us with the bag in her hand. 

 "Let's go." We slowly walk up the basement stairs. 

 "Oh shit," Chris says. Sitting in a large group I see what I can guess is called a Wendigo. I only saw a blur of the monster earlier, but now I can see every detail of them. The cracked skin, covered in frost bite, the sharp teeth. Everything about them causes me to freeze. Then they notice us. 

 "Shit shit shit. Cara c'mon we gotta go!" Chris yells grabbing my hand and running. The things chase after us. We reach the movie room and Sam and Mike are standing there.

 "GO! RUN!" Ashley yells. 

 "GET OUT OF HERE! GO GOGO!" I still feel fear spreading through my body, if it wasn't for Chris practically dragging me, I probably wouldn't be able to move. We run up the stairs and to the hall at the side of the largest staircase in the lodge. Mike and Sam stop at the front of it. Chris tightens his grip on my hand as I look up in terror at the Wendigo sitting on one of the lights. I notice one thing about it. It has something on its shoulder. It looks like a butterfly. My eyes widen in realization. It's Hannah. 

 "Don't move," Mike whispers. I stand as still as I can. I see out of the corner of my eye the other monsters crawling over. A tear falls down my face. They climb up the walls, and two of them fight for a second. Mike begins to slowly walk over to a light that's on the wall. One of the Wendigos notice Sam and begin to walk towards her. With the Wendigo distracted Mike crushes the glass surrounding the light bulb. 

 "C'mon we need to get out of here," Chris whispers. 

 "But what about-"

 "I'm getting you out of this alive. I promised," he says quietly. I nod my head before running out of the backdoor with him. Seconds after we fall into the snow the building goes up in flames. Sam is thrown by the explosion. 

 "Where's Ashley and Mike?" I ask. 

 "They-they didn't make it out," Sam says in almost a whisper. Tears form in my eyes and I let out a sob. Chris wraps his arms around me and I cry harder. Chris helps me stand up, but my legs feel weak. He basically holds me up. A helicopter sound rings from above us. 

 "We did it, we're still alive," Chris says in disbelief. 

 "We're alive Cara. We're alive." 

A/N- Song chapter was based off of- Buried Alive by Lovers and Liars. Well....that happened. Sorry if you liked Ashley or Mike by the way. I'm still gonna have a couple more chapters after this one, for an epilogue I guess. There's gonna be some time skips in them though. I'll update again tomorrow. Thanks for reading -floating_fangirl
