*Just an author's note- I am so freaking sorry. I've had a really really crazy year and so many things have happened and i've been in no emotional or physical state to write anything. But hey, i'm back and I'm here to write the Snap/Spot fluff that everyone wants in their lives. Much love!*It had been hours since Spot had told her he loved her, and Snap now sat on the roof of the Brooklyn Lodging House, trying to wrap her head around everything that happened to her. Within the course of a week, everything in her world had changed. Everything about Spot had changed. It took only one day for them to meet and develop the most keen sense of hatred she had ever felt, and then again only a moment for her to question her feelings. And then the sense of hatred came back even stronger than before, only to be replaced within hours as she saw that maybe he wasn't as cruel and malicious as he made himself out to be. Over the course of a week, everything had changed so much that now there was nothing she could do but stare at the rooftops of the city and try to process everything that had happened.
"What the hell are you doin' up here? It ain't safe and I can't have you falling." She glanced over her shoulder and Spot had walked up behind her, crossing his arms and lifting an eyebrow.
"Thinking." She answered simply, her eyes drifting back to the skyline."You think more than any girl I ever met, you know that?" Spot sat down next to her, reaching for her hand, which she pulled away before he had the chance to take it. Spot took hold of her chin, gently forcing her to look at him. "We ain't gonna do this thing where you'se all quiet and won't tell me anything. What's going on?"
She abruptly turned her body in his direction, her eyes boring into his, before asking, "Why? Why me, why now? A week ago you hated me and now you're telling me you love me, and it just doesn't make any sense. For that matter, you probably got hundreds of girls on your trail just dying to be with a guy like you. So, why me?"
Spot stared at her for a minute before chuckling. "You ask too many questions. Here's the deal. I've met a ton of girls in my life and every one of them has worshiped me and done everything I asked 'em to. But you, you're different and there's somethin' about you that drives me crazy, but I like it. You're a challenge and God, are you beautiful. I didn't know what to do when I met ya and started having all these feelings, so I did what I know and I started a fight. But I ain't willing to fight with you anymore. I want you to be my girl. I love you, and when you know, you know. Is that enough for you?"
There was a silence as Snap considered what he said. Every fairy tale she had ever read and everything she had ever been told told her that this was what every girl should dream of. But now, all she felt was fear. Fear that God knows what would happen, and everything would go to ruin, just as everything in her life had seemed to do. She couldn't look at him, because she knew that he would know immediately what she was feeling.
"And one more thing. You ain't sly, I see that look on you're face. You'se scared. I am, too, to be truthful with ya. But I promise you, Snap, that i'm gonna do my damnedest to keep you happy. I ain't gonna hurt you, and I ain't ever gonna let no harm come to you. While you're mine, you'se gonna be safe and happy, understand?"
More silence as she thought. Then, suddenly she threw her arms around his neck and pulled him into a tight hug. He could feel hot tears on his neck and he pulled her closer, rubbing her back and rocking her gently. "I love you, Snap. All of Brooklyn is yours. You'se my queen and you'se gonna be treated like it. Only the best for my girl. I promise."
He lifted her chin with a finger and kissed her, hoping that she believed everything he had said, because he meant it, and he was sure there were to be rough times ahead.
