You're just a sad song,
With nothing to say"We must wait for Aden to wake. she needs her rest." Alexandre hummed.
"What is wrong with her? If you don't mind me asking..."
"She has a cold. My sister is fragile and not at her full potential." He lightly explained, his face cold and empty of any kind of emotion. You could tell that he was a man loathed by many, and feared by all and every step he took screamed power. His eyes flickered to mine and I suddenly felt embarrassed for observing him.
"So you are vampires?" I asked, fiddling with my fingers.
"It seems the old witch has educated you. Let me guess, you just learned of your heritage?"
"Grandmother Rose is sort of an outcast in the family." I shared. "They always kept the children away
"I'm sure to the outside world, the witch seems crazy." He began to walk about the room as he spoke. "Wise woman, I have more respect for her than I have for most."
"I take it you don't trust very easily."
"Not at all. And that includes you." He glared at me. "No one in this town will trust you, a fresh young witch with no ties. You may be on my covens territory, but you do not belong to us and until you prove yourself trustworthy to me, you shall be treated like an outsider. Because that is what you are."
"I'm sorry." I let out a rude laugh. "I didn't know I needed to prove myself to you. I don't want anything to do with your 'coven', sorry."
"I do not like you." Alexandre spoke casually.
"Oh, trust me. The feeling is mutual." I huffed, slouching in my seat as I looked around the room.
"I do suppose, you could be some use for a few of my other needs." He shot me a devious smile, a dark look in his grey eyes.
"Or you could just leave me alone if you don't like me." I snapped impatiently at the man. Within a millisecond he was in my face, hand wrapped around my throat.
"You will respect me, girl." He hissed, his fangs bared. I scowled, and something must have been wrong with me because I felt no fear.
"I believe I'm here to help one of your own, not be harassed by you." I shot back. He immediately released me and pulled himself back together.
"Follow me, witch." The tone in his voice was full of so much venom I was pretty sure he wanted to replace the w with a b...
I followed Alexandre out of his office and into the grand entry of the manor once more. He proceeded up the beautiful winding stair case and into the upper hallway. We traveled into the west wing to a door. Alexandre rapped the door, before opening it to reveal a bedroom. The room was medium sized, full of neutral yet feminine tones. A large queen sized bed sat against the wall with a cream canopy drawn around it. At the end of the bed sat a small cream love seat and a glass coffee table. Mirrored side tables were on each side of the bed.
Alexandre approached the bed, pulling back the canopy curtain to reveal a beautiful Raven haired girl typing away on her iPhone. She looked up at him with the classic teenager scowl, before turning towards me with a smile.
"Have you brought me a friend, brother? Since you have bed ridden me over a simple cold." She spoke the last part with the roll of her eyes. Yep, definitely a teenager.
"This is Rose's granddaughter. She's just delivering your medication." He huffed, snatching the iPhone from the girls hands. She had the same grey eyes as Alexandre, and you could obviously tell they were siblings.
"Well do you have a name, witch?" Aden asked in a demanding tone, obviously a trait she received from her brother.
"Valencia. Do you have any manners?" I shot back, not allowing myself to be spoken to in such a way. I didn't miss the slight hint of a smile on Alexandre's face.
"Ooh, feisty. I like you. I'm Aden. I'm sorry you had to come all this way to deliver medication I don't really need. Alex tends to get a little... Dramatic when I get sick." She flipped her hair over her shoulder, turning her head to Alexandre. "Can I have my phone back?"
"Here, brat." He tossed the phone to her before turning to me. "See yourself out when you're done."
With that he turned and left the room. Aden smirked as her brother left. "Having you around is going to be so fun."
"Well you're the first person even close to my age that I've met so far, so hopefully you can show me what there is that's fun in this god forsaken town." I responded.
"Alex isn't that old. He's only 22. Although he acts like he's 40." She giggled as she spoke about Her brother.
"I would have never guessed." I sarcastically added.
"Either way, I know something you don't know." She sang in a sing song voice. "You're going to be in my life for a very long time, might as well get close."
"What do you mean by that?"
"Fate. Ask your grandmother. What's your phone number? Do you have an Instagram? I have like 10k followers, I'm kind of a big deal." She ranted on, avoiding my question. I pulled out my phone after a moment and she immediately snatched it from my hand to enter in her information. "There you go Val. So do you want to go do something?"
The girl had mischief in her eyes, and snickered delightfully at whatever ran through her mind. I knew deep down that she probably shouldn't be going out and we were going to end up in a ton of trouble with Alexandre but I couldn't resist. I smirked at her before finally answering. "What did you have in mind?"
