Acacia Brinley as Aden Baldassarre.
Take me I'm alive
Never was a girl with a wicked mind
But everything looks better when the sun goes downThe beautiful vampire girl was up to no good, but I was in no position to refuse a night out. I found it hard to believe that there was anything fun to do in a small town like Ivywood, but Aden reassured me over and over again that I was in for the time of my life. I was to meet her back at the Baldassarre Manor that night to pick her up so she could sneak out while her brother was out.
It was 10 PM when I pulled up in front of the Baldassarre manor. I typed a quick I'm here but Aden was opening the passenger door before I even clicked send. "Oh this car is bloody awful, Alex will definitely have to buy you a new one soon."
"I don't think your brother will be buying me a car anytime soon." I rolled my eyes at her before taking in her appearance. She wore a pair of black leather pants and a tight black crop top tshirt that showed off her flat, perfect stomach. A pair of combat boots were laced on and her makeup was done in a dramatic cat eye and nude lip, enhancing her already flawless complexion. I was relieved that I wasn't under- or over- dressed. I wore a tight black dress, fishnets and my thigh high boots with an oversized cardigan to tone it down, my blonde hair was left down in messy waves and my makeup was done in my signature smokey eye and a nude lip. "So where are we heading?"
"Drive towards town, we are looking for a bar called Vert." Aden watched our surroundings, make sure no one had caught her sneaking out.
"Vert? Is it like some kind of vampire club or something?" I raised an eyebrow.
"Not... Really? A lot of vamps go there, Baldassarre and Ambrogio, but so do a lot of humans and werewolves. A couple of witches here and there." She explained.
"There are more witches? And werewolves?" I asked while I laughed in disbelief. "Lovely, absolutely lovely."
"Rose is the most powerful witch in Ivywood, and you're of her bloodline so nothing to worry about." The raven haired girl reassured me, pulling out her iPhone and tapping away. "Thanks for taking me out, V. I got the cold a week ago, and it cleared up but my brother is way too overprotective for his own good."
"Why is he so protective of you?"
"Because of who we are. I'm a pureblood Baldassarre, my life is in danger just from existing. Especially against the Ambrogio." She sighed, resting her head against the window. "Can I tell you a secret?"
"Do I want to know?" I asked sarcastically, already knowing she would tell me either way.
"I'm in love." The teenager began. "It's a long, complicated story."
"I feel like you're still going to tell said long, complicated story."
"True, anyways." She flipped her hair for dramatic effect. "So you know how with werewolves you get a mate?"
"Quick reminder that I'm new to all this."
"Right, so purebloods get soulmates. Not any of our sires, they just do it the regular way, but we get mates. We aren't suppose to find ours till after our 21st birthday but I found mine early."
"But what's a mate?"
"Is it not obvious?" She shot me a look as if to say I was an idiot.
"I mean I have an idea but yeah."
"Mates with wolves are different and I'm not going into that crap, but soulmates are your equal. With soulmates it can go one of two ways, you either become each others ultimate enemy, or if you're lucky you fall in love. Soulmates are the only beings that can come together to create a pureblood, so if you meet your soulmate and they're the same gender or you're enemies your bloodline will end there. Your soulmate is your equal meaning that they are just as powerful as you, and together the two of you are twice as powerful. Caine Ambrogio, the youngest of the Ambrogio coven purebloods, is my soulmate." She spoke the last part sadly.
"And the Baldassarre and Ambrogio are sworn enemies." I spoke the last part as we pulled up at the club. I found a empty spot on the street, parking there and turning to Aden. "What else did you need to tell me?"
"The Ambrogio might be here tonight. That's why I wanted you to come with me, if anything goes wrong I needed back up and you're so powerfu-"
"I don't have any power, Aden. I just learned I was a witch yesterday. I have no idea." I interrupted her. It was then that I had realized Aden had tricked me into helping her play out her twisted version of Romeo and Juliet, and everyone knew that story never ended well.
"Powers come from emotion, if we are in any danger your natural instincts will kick in. I'm positive we can trigger your powers, V. Please, help me." She pleaded. I sighed. We had already came this far, might as well see what happens. It wasn't like I had much to lose. I had felt this way since my parents had passed, like I had nothing to live for. It was a sick, twisted feeling and I hated every bit of feeling that way.
"Okay, but if we are in any danger, we are getting the hell out of there immediately." I gave in.
"Yay! Thank you!" With than she opened the car door and I got out of the car, following behind her towards the entrance of the club.
