Snuggling closer to Derek, he nodded his head and smiled gently. "I promise, I need to know my weaknesses while fighting other than my eyes." He didn't want to be a burden on his team and on Derek so he needed to learn to fight and even use his gun without his eyesight.

The day had passed and the lovers were in the kitchen. Derek was warming up some food and Reid was moving slowly around while tapping on things. "I didn't really believe in the echo location method whales use until I lost my sight but it does work." Slowly he reached down and patted Clooney's head. "You have been a rather gracious host Clooney, thank you." He stood and tapped things again until he reached Derek. "Though I believe you have been amazing and a rather perfect lover." He leaned in a captured his boyfriend's lips in a kiss before slowly stepping back and began tapping once more. "So which friend are we expecting tonight?" He was feeling a bit better today and didn't mind company.

Derek wrapped Spencer in his arms. It was amazing to him how easy it felt to be with him. Like everything fell into place the moment he stopped lying to himself. "We can start as soon as you feel like you can handle it. But today, we just relax."

After a long day of cuddling and laughing together Derek received a phone call from an old friend. She was back from an assignment and wanted to catch up. He didn't tell her much about Spencer. He figured Spence could tell her what he wanted her to know over dinner. Derek smiled watching his very own genius enter the kitchen. Leaning into the kiss as Reid made his way to him Derek smiled. "A friend of mine from training at Quantico. Ava Monroe, she's a good friend. Haven't seen her in a while. I think you'll like her. She's... strange." Derek chuckled as he pulled Spencer into his arms. "Just don't let her get you drunk." He laughed pecking his cheek as the door bell rang. "That's probably her." Letting go of Spencer he made his way to the door with Spencer and Clooney trailing behind him. Derek opened the door to a rather surly looking woman. Her hands placed on her hips she started to say something but it ended in a fit of laughter.

"I was gonna mess with you, but I just can't do it. You still look funny."

Derek laughed, she was something else. "Its good to see you too Monroe." He hugged her quickly and turned to Spencer. "This is Dr. Spencer Reid."

"Your boyfriend." She smiled hugging Spencer quickly. "Its nice to meet you her throaty vice called out. "Ava Monroe at your service."

Spencer heard everything that happened but he truly couldn't see what was going on. Feeling the smaller woman hug him, he awkwardly patted her back and slowly traced the air until he found Derek's hand. "I left my walking stick in the living room." He blushed some and held his lover's hand until they started moving back into the living room.

Slowly tracing his fingers over the sofa until he felt his stick and brought it in his hand. Tapping on the coffee table, he moved to sit in his spot and placed his stick next to him as Clooney sat on his other side.

Letting out a small sigh, he wiggled his fingers to see if he could feel his drink but couldn't. Making a noise of frustration, he put his hands in his lap. "Derek... Can you hand me my drink? I don't want to knock into anything and make a mess.."

Ava smiled and stepped to the side. As Spencer took Derek's hand. Derek led them to the living room.

"Nice place y'all have here." Her slight southern draw was evident as she spoke.

"Its not to shabby." Derek sat next to Spencer as Ava sat across from them. She was excited to see that her friend was happy. He'd been lonely for so long.

Derek handed Spencer his drink placing his hand on Spencer's thigh.

"So, Spencer. Derek tells me you're some kind of amazing genius. What's that like?" She asked leaning back in her seat. To anyone who didn't know her she appeared to be a slightly insane person. That was just her way of keeping people at arm's length. Derek was the only one she let get close to her. Which wasn't easy, but Derek being Derek he wouldn't let her get away that easy. She was just a bit odd and Derek thought that she could help Spencer somehow.
