In the morning, he heard Derek in the shower and he slowly pushed himself out of bed and to his closet. Picking out an outfit, he slowly made his way back to their bed and waited until Derek came out of the bathroom and he walked into the bathroom after giving his lover a kiss.
Once both agents were ready for the day and had their breakfast, Derek gave him a hug and kiss goodbye with a remainder to call him after the appointment. Putting his sunglasses on his face, he took his walking stick and made sure to lock the home before walking down the steps slowly and waited for JJ.
Hearing a honk designed for Spencer to know it was JJ, he walked as he used his stick to guide him and touched the door to make sure he was there. Opening it, he greeted his friend and got in. "Thanks Jayje." The blonde patted his hand and drove to the doctor.
Coming out of the shower Derek smiled seeing his love sitting on their bed. "Hotch picked up Jack for school already. He seemed happier than usual. Texted Ava, she sent me a picture of her flipping me off." He chuckled into the kiss. "I guessing she doesn't want to talk. I'll go get breakfast ready." He called after him as he went into the bathroom.
Derek fixed them both breakfast. The pair ate quickly. He held Spencer close for a moment and gave him a quick kiss as the headed out the door. "Call me, let me know what they say. And remember. I love you, no matter what." He waved to JJ as he got in his car and went to work.
Once he got to work he was surprised to see Ava talking with Director Strauss and what appeared to be the director of her unit. It didn't look like it was going well. She cut a quick glance at Derek and Aaron, nodding as she took a file from them. As she walked up to them she handed it to Aaron. "Looks like you got a case. Trouble is, it used to be mine. I went under for it. They had to pull me because the ring leader wanted me dead. We weren't sure if my cover was blown or he just got tired of me being around. And what's worse... I have to go back in." She sighed looking at her feet. This was one of her most hated cases and she had to put herself back in it.
Derek looked to the two directors who were still talking. "Tell them no."
"I can't, orders are orders. They want your team on it unofficially. I can't be made this time." She gave Aaron and apologetic look before turning to walk away. "I need to get a few things then I'll be heading out. Strauss wants you to follow in a day or two."
Spencer was sitting in the doctor's office, his feet tapping with nerves. He was hoping for good news, anything that would help him but he felt a pit in his stomach that something bad was going to happen.
The doctor pulled JJ to the side and told her that she needed to hold Spencer's hand because the news was not good. The blonde nodded her head once and walked to her friend. "I am right here Spence.." Her voice was soft so he wouldn't worry.
The doctor cleared his throat and looked at the young man. "I am afraid that I don't have good news. The damage to both your eyes are to severe for us to try and get your sight back. Many of the vital nerves you need were completely damaged and we can't repair them. I am sorry Dr. Reid but your going to be blind for the rest of your life.." He saw the man trying not to break down so he dismissed himself and left him alone.
Spencer was blind, he was never going to be able to see again.. He would never be able to see his friends again, his mother, and Derek. JJ stood in front of him and wrapped him in a tight hug and let him cry.
Once he could control himself, he asked her to take him home. When she did, he asked to be left alone and she told him to call her if he needs anything. Once she went back to her car, she dialed Derek. The moment he answered he sounded stressed but he would have to put that to the side. "Morgan come home.. Now.. Spence didn't get good news and he needs you."
