Spencer curled close to Derek's body when they went to bed but he didn't go to sleep right away. His brain was working on overdrive and he usually read but his books in Braille wouldn't be at Derek's home for another couple of days so he was stuck thinking.
Snuggling close to Derek, he let out a small sigh and let his scent start to relax him. He knew training was going to be hard work but he didn't want to be a burden on his team. Knowing that Derek would be watching his back, but with his blindness meant he would have to be even more careful.
After a good hour of thinking, he finally drifted off to sleep. Feeling the warmth on his skin meant it was morning and when he tried to feel the body next to him, he didn't feel anyone which meant he was alone. "Derek?" He called out and sat up, wiggling his fingers until they wrapped around his walking stick. He made his way to the closet and tried to feel the materials to see if he could find anything of his.
Derek was asleep almost as soon as his head hit the pillow. He felt the warm body next to him as he drifted off.
The next morning he woke before Spencer and he went to the kitchen to fix them both breakfast hoping to have it done by the time his love was awake. He knew today was sure to be a rough day for him so he wanted to make sure he got the best possible start he could. Hearing his name called he made his way back to their bedroom. "Hey, I got some breakfast ready before we go meet Ava." Derek helped the love of his life find his clothes and led the way to the kitchen. Once they had eaten and Derek loaded the car with a change of clothes for each of them they headed to the gym where Ava was already getting set up.
Ava had a room reserved just for her training classes. When she first started teaching there she met Jack Hotchner who attended the gymboree for Bureau kids. "Hey, kiddo. Dad late again?"
"Yeah, I called him and he said he's on his way."
"He's a busy guy. You wanna help me till he gets here?"
Jack smiled brightly at her. "Yeah!" He began helping her move things around in the room. Aaron wasn't late in fact he was watching them as Derek and Spencer walked in. "Hotch? What are you doing here?"
"Picking up Jack from his class here. What are you two doing here?"
"A friend of mine is gonna help Spencer learn to defend himself." He looked over as Jack and Ava fell to the ground laughing. She had a way with him that not many others did. "Why don't you say something instead of watching." Morgan smiled as he put two and two together.
Hearing the conversation between his boyfriend and their friend, Reid heard Jack and he gave the child an awkward wave of his free hand while his other held on to his walking stick.
Once he heard Hotch come in, he took a small step closer to Derek and held on to his boyfriend's shirt. He listened to the conversation and couldn't stop the small smile that crossed his lips when he clued in what was happening. Hearing the soft tone coming from their strict boss meant he had feelings for the woman.
He heard tiny footsteps come towards him and Derek, he knew it was Jack. "Spence?" Reid couldn't see him but he felt eyes on him and trailed the hair until he felt a head of hair. "Hi Jack, how are you?" The boy huffed and looked up at the genius. "Daddy says that a bad guy took your eyes.. That true?" He heard the whole room go silent and Reid felt his heart clench.
Putting on a small smile, he slowly leaned down until he felt the boy's shoulders. "Yes Jack a bad guy hurt my eyes and I can't see anymore. The doctors might be able to fix me but right now I can't see. But Derek and your dad are helping me be okay. And Ava is going to teach me how to defend myself." Listening the boy wrapped his arms around Reid's neck and gave him a hug before slowly moving away. "I will protect you until you can fight." The boy gave a nod but Reid felt tears well up in his eyes and he smiled sadly, "Thank you Jack. I know no one will mess with me while you are protecting me." The boy looked between his dad and Derek. "You have to protect him when I am at school okay? He is important." Jack sounded fierce which made Reid sniffle, he never had a child react that way to him.
