"Guys, seriously it's gonna be epic, you all need to come! Not that I think you won't come, everyone's gonna come. I'm just making sure." Lydia exclaimed before taking a bite from the carrot in her hand. Everyone else on the table just nodded and assured her they'd come. I didn't say anything, she knew I wasn't coming, even now that Stiles and I were kind of on good terms I still didn't have a good feeling about going to another party. It was friday and Halloween's tomorrow. Lydia had been planning this party for weeks, usually she'd just decide the day before if she was throwing a party. So this one was planned out to the max, and Lydia wanted it to be the talk of the town. After Lydia made sure everyone came to her party, different discussions about what they were going to dress up as sparked around our group of friends.

"Maye I'll dress up as a wish-granting lash." Stiles said and winked at me, causing butterflies to errupt in my stomach. Seriously, this small gesture and my insides were going crazy? This had to stop. I can't be falling for him again, he's just going to break my heart.

"Too bad I won't be there to see it." I replied smiling, I liked how he made it sound like it was an inside joke between us.

"Why? I thought the cousin of Lydia Martin had to attend all of her parties?" Stiles asked his eyebrows raised. He made Lydia sound like she was some kind of superstar.

"Technically yes, but I convinced her that I shouldn't come, the last two parties were both a flop for me and I really didn't want to experience that again." I shrugged my shoulders, he knew what I was talking about. He kind of was the reason for it to turn out into a disaster both of the times. The second time different than the first but whatever.

"Well, then I'll have to dress up as something else. Noone will understand it." He chuckled lightly before we heard the warning bell. "Chemistry here we come." Stiles sang and got up from his seat. I got up as well and threw my trash away following Stiles and Scott out of the cafeteria.

I looked at the test in front of me D- . Awesome. I studied for this stupid test but it didn't matter I just sucked at chemistry. Good thing my mom wasn't home for the weekend so I wouldn't have to confront her with this until monday.

"Oh wow Claire, you really need to study more." Stiles ,who was sitting behind me, said. I turned around to see him looking at me somewhat concerned.

"Really Stiles? Are you serious? I studied for this stupid test like crazy okay? Excuse me I'm not a nerd like you. Let me guess you've got an A+?"

"Nope, I made this stupid mistake in task three so I only got an A." He had a smug grin on his face and I was seriously considering to slap it off his face. "Look that was-"

"Ms. Martin if you could turn around and pay attention to the lesson. Your grade would really benefit from that." Mr. Harris sneered and it was just fueling my anger.

"It was my fault Mr.Harris." Stiles said and Mr.Harris glance turned towards the boy behind me.

"Is that so Stilinski? Okay so, why don't you two prepare a project for monday? Maybe it'll make you both focus on what is really important." Because chemistry is the most imortant thing ever, sure. "Yes, I think that is a brilliant idea." I groaned and but my head in my hands, this was really what I needed, not.

After Harris had dismissed the class and handed me the subject for our project, Stiles came up to me an apologetic look on his face.

"Sorry about that project thing..." He rubbed the back of his neck. "But you know maybe it'll help you understand chemistry better..." He tried to lighten my mood but it didn't work.

"This has to be done until monday...I don't think we'll get this done in time, this is a lot." I looked at the pile of sheets in my hand.

"Don't worry about it, " He threw his arm around my shoulders and my body immediatly reacted my heart beating faster. "You'll come over today and we'll be done in no time."

"If you say so..."

I was starting to get nervous. I was standing in front of Stiles' front door about to ring the doorbell. I was surely going to make a fool of myself because I had no grasp on chemistry whatsoever. Before I could even push the button of the doorbell the door opened  revealing Sheriff Stilinski, Stiles' Dad.

"Hello there." He said a smile on his face. I always thought he looked like a nice person. I can't imagine him arresting people to be honest, but he must be doing his job well. I mean he's the Sheriff.

"Hi, I'm Claire." I said reaching out my hand.

"I'm Stiles' dad...obviously. Stiles is upstairs in his room, first door to your right. It was nice to meet you Claire, I'm off to work." With that he got into his car and drove off. I took a deep breath before heading up the stairs. I knocked on Stiles door and he opened the door almost immediatly, about to say something but then his eyes landed on me. He probaby didn't expect me.

"Hi." I said shyly.

"Hi." He was still staring at me, not moving.

"Your father let me in." I explained why I was standing in his hallway.

"He did? Yeah, of course he did. Come in." He finally stepped aside and opened the door wider for me. I entered his room and looked around for a moment. His walls were painted a dark blue and he had posters hung up. It was kind of messy with a lot of papers laying around but it was alright. "You can sit on the bed if you'd like." I nodded and sat down. Grabbing my bag I pulled out the papers Harris had given me earlier.

One and a half hours later and I still had no idea what we were doing. "So what does that mean again?" I asked for the hundredth time today.

"That means, that it's an oxidation-reduction reaction."

"What was that again?" I had no idea what he was talking about. Stiles sighed and put his head in his hands.

"No wonder you got a D-! I'm sorry but your a hopeless case." He chuckled lightly.

"Well, I'm not as smart as you are. Sorry." I let my face fall down on the mattress. I was laying on Stiles' bed on my stomach and Stiles was sitting in his chair in front of me.

"That was a joke. Claire, it's one test. You're gonna make it up. Hey, you don't really need to be super smart to get this."

"Wow. Thanks." I mumbled into the sheets of his bed.

"No I didn't mean it that way I meant you'll understand it sooner or later." His voice sounded reassuring and it gave me a little bit of hope.

"Probably later." Stiles chuckled and wanted to say something but in that moment my phone rang. I held up my finger signalizing Stiles to wait before I fished out my phone.

"Hello?" I answered without checking the ID. I was still laying on Stiles bed but now on my back.

"Hello, is this Claire Martin?" The woman on the other end said and it made me feel uneasy.

"Yes..Why what's wrong?" I sat up in attempt to focus on what the woman was saying.

"I'm calling from Saint Marks Hospital in Salt Lake City. Your father Robert Martin has been in an accident."
