“Chrissy darling, wake up! Honey, it’s like two in the afternoon!”
I slowly opened my eyes, not yet adjusting to the brightness of the room I was in.
A giant glass wall to my right allowed light to seep into the crowded room, and a quiet sound of humming coming from the air conditioning gave off an eerie feel.
I finally gave up, the light hitting my eyes and making my head ache, and so I shut my eyes close, yet again.
I felt around for Mr. Flopsy, my stuffed bunny that Alyssa had gifted to me as a get well soon present shortly after I broke my arm in sixth grade.
To my surprise, I couldn’t find him.
I wasn’t on my bed, that’s for sure, but I was in a familiar place. My thoughts wandered, still scrambled from the fact that I just woke up.
After all, if I was in an unfamiliar place, I wouldn’t be hearing Alyssa’s soft, kind of high pitched voice, urging me to wake up.
“Uh...where am I?” I croaked, my voice still not coming to me.
“My room.” Alyssa said shaking me until I finally opened my eyes. “You came in my room in the middle of the night, sobbing, half asleep, saying absolutely nothing. And then you crawled into bed and slept here, for the rest of the night.”
“Oh.” I frowned, sitting up,
“Mind telling me what that was about?” Alyssa asked.
I didn’t answer.
“Or rather...who it was about?”
I sighed, turning my face towards the eager looking frame sitting in front of me. “We’ve talked about this.”
“And you always seem to avoid listening to anything I say.” She complained.
“It’s not that I avoid it. I just choose not to believe it.”
“Which is avoiding.”
“ugh...fine.”
“Go shower. Then change. I’ve made breakfast- or rather lunch. Then I want you to dress up properly and get out of the house.” Alyssa commanded, her face stern and her posture even more demanding.
“Yes mom.”
“Well, well, well...” She grinned from ear to ear, “Aren’t the roles reversed today?”
“I guess they are...” I mumbled. “Enjoy it while it lasts.”
“I will! Now hurry up you slow poke, I have a casting for this new teen movie in three hours and I need to look like a simple, teenage girl but in the cutest way possible!” Lyssi exclaimed, walking into her closet, presumably to look for an outfit.
A few minutes later, she remerged, wearing a navy blue, short dress with a beaded collar and a slim gold belt. She wore her hair down, with a cute lace head band keeping her curls from falling in her eyes. Her bangs were pinned to a side which made her eyes look bigger.
Lyssi also wore blue and black ballet flats that matched the outfit perfectly. She had minimal jewelry on- just a heart shaped locket with her and Harry’s initials and a silver charm bracelet.
“You look nice,” I noted, sizing her up.
“Really? Isn’t this dress absolutely perfect? It screams ‘normal teenager’”
“Well I don’t know about normal, since the dress costs a hundred dollars, with you look gorgeous.” I assured. “What’s the movie you’re auditioning for about?”
