Everyone sat around me, listening in disbelief at the news that I had just shared. There was danger ahead, but we were unsure about when that danger would reach us. The rest of the day we planned out what we would do when they'd return, we would have no other option but to kill them. Carlisle wasn't happy with having to take a life, but if doing so saved his family, then he would agree.
Edward would want to keep me away from the fight, so he'd stay with me and we'd escape somewhere safe. In the short amount of time Edward was in their heads, he couldn't tell what powers they had, if they had any, and that made this issue more intense.
Jasper felt my emotion of worry, and radiated calmness towards me. Smiling at him thankfully, I excused myself from the room and walked out onto the balcony. The sun had set and the stars were out, I was examining the constellations when I heard the door behind me slide open and closed again.
I turned around to face who had joined me, and smiled at Jasper as he walked over to stand beside me, leaning against the barrier to prevent anyone from falling off the balcony.
We stood in silence for another long minute, gazing at the stars before he spoke."Bella I can feel you're worried, and I just want to know why." He asked quietly, though I knew everyone inside could hear. I looked over my shoulder to see inside, and everyone was doing something of their own. Edward was sitting at his piano, Esme reading a catalog of home designing, Rosalie was reading a magazine, Emmett playing a video game on the big screen TV. Alice was reading a book, and I couldn't see Carlisle, so I assumed he was in his office.
Sighing softly, I turned back to Jasper.
"I just don't want you all to risk getting hurt over me." Jasper's eyes widened as he felt my sudden shame, then grabbed my hand softly.
"Bella, there are eight of us, and three of them. It'll be the easiest fight in my existence, we aren't going to risk anything."
"I just feel like it would be easier if I just... Left with them." From inside I could hear Edward growl lowly, and I looked back at Jasper who was looking inside at Edward.
"You are apart of this family, Bella. You aren't going to leave us, and we aren't going to get hurt, do you understand?" Even with Jasper making me calm, I still had that small feeling of regret in my body. I regretted that I had ever followed James into the forest, I regret that I didn't just run away, maybe if I did we wouldn't be in this mess.Nodding my head, Jasper squeezed my hands softly before letting go, returning inside to leave me out here alone again. I bowed my head slightly and closed my eyes, imaging if my world was easier. I looked inside once more and saw Jasper take his place beside Alice, resting his hand on her leg and watching Emmett play his game. Edward still sat with his back to me, looking over music sheets on his piano. I smiled a small smile, seeing how the family seemed complete. If anyone would pass by and see inside the window at this scene, they would think that this family was like any other.
I didn't want to interrupt this perfect picture with my presence, so I turned around again and jumped over the balcony barrier, running away back to my home, where Charlie was probably waiting.

The next couple of weeks had passed by in a flash, and there was no sign of the nomads return. Alice was paying extra close attention to them and warn us when they would come across our paths again, but so far there was nothing to update. My mother would be coming down to visit in only a few more weeks, but by the way time was passing for us, I felt as if I would see her the next day. I have learned that as a vampire, time seems to slip away and everything just turns into one big event other than being spread out on different dates.
I returned home from school on a Friday to see my father's cruiser in it's normal spot. I wouldn't have been suspicious, but he was home earlier than usual. I walked through the front door to see him sitting on the couch, his face in his hands.
