"I need to go see Jake." I sighed out, very quietly although I knew they could hear me perfectly.
Beside me, Edward growled and his grip tightened on my hand. "Bella, no." He ordered, but I refused to back down.
"Edward, I need to know he won't hate me, I need to make things right."
"Bella, if he is starting his transformation, he's a way higher risk. He could kill you." My thoughts drifted back to that night, when Sam informed me that for protection, they kill vampires who are a danger to the community.
"Jacob knows me, Edward. I trust him. And I'm sure Sam will be there, to hold him back. Please let me do this, I'm fast, I can run away if it get's too dangerous."
"They're faster."
"I'll take to the treetops, then. Big dogs can't climb trees, right?" My focus was on this argument with Edward, forgetting that we had a crowd. It was the first actual argument we have had since we met. It pained me to see his upset expression and when he realized that I wasn't going to back down, he exhaled in defeat.

"Bella you may be able to cross the treaty line, but I can't. I can't protect you once you pass into their territory." I moved closer to Edward and wrapped my arms around his waist, resting my head on his chest. "Edward, I don't see Jacob as a threat. I'll be okay, I promise." My tone was sincere and I could tell it soothed Edward a little bit. He leaned down and wrapped his arms around me as he hugged me back, and I thought of a million different scenarios in my head of how this could end up.

The worst scenario, was that I would not survive this intended friendly visit.

"Call me if there is any danger." Edward said as we stopped at the treaty line. I could tell this was it, by the way the scent of wet dog intensified from here on out. I have been away from werewolves for a while, so I was still not used to the scent. Scrunching my nose back, Edward laughed lowly. "I know, it's not the most pleasant scent." Edward stepped out of my truck and slammed the door shut, meeting me at the drivers side. Instead of saying anything else, Edward opened the door and pulled me out into his arms and kissed me gently for a minute. Once he let go, he was gone.

Inhaling deeply through my mouth and not my nose, I could tell there were humans near here, by the way my throat itched. It no longer had the intense burn, I was used to that. Now it just felt like an itch from the inside of my throat that I couldn't scratch. As unpleasant as that was, I did my best to ignore it and sat back down on the old seats of my truck before driving into the Quileute territory. I followed the streets and remembered the way to Billy's home, arriving shortly.

I knew Billy had heard the roar of my truck, because as soon as I turned the ignition off, he rolled himself out on to the makeshift ramp leading into his home.

"Bella." He greeted me, tipping his hat as I got out and slammed the door shut.
"Billy." I smiled at him, causing him to go speechless for a second.
"What a surprise, what is this visit about?" He seemed curious, but deep down I felt as if he knew I was here for Jacob.
"I need to see Jake." I walked over to him, shoving my hands in the pocket of my brown jacket, fumbling with the case of contacts. I had decided to place contacts in my eyes before driving down here, so I wouldn't get any more looks than I already got by strangers on the street. Since my eyes turned the honey ocher like Edward's, the venom wasn't as bad and I could keep the contacts in longer; for two hours at a time.
"Jake's not in right now." Billy informed me, looking towards the trees.
"Do you know where I can find him?" I asked him, following him inside, as it was beginning to rain. I didn't mind the rain, but Billy surely didn't want to sit there and get soaked.

"He's possibly at Sam's, I'll give Emily a call and let you know you are on your way over." Billy wrote down an address on a piece of paper and handed it to me, I only needed to have a simple glimpse of it and it was memorized.
"Thanks, Billy." I smiled down at him once more and exited the house, getting into my truck and starting it once more.
