Zuri woke up to the sun scorching down onto her morning eyes, and rolled over looking down at a piece of fluff on her bed. She played with it using her finger while sighing.
She was beginning to have second thoughts about yesterday; did she really make the right choice in turning down Rukia’s offer? She didn’t know
But what she did know is that she wants to protect the ones she loves, but in doing so must they be in danger for her power to awaken, surely then she wouldn’t need to control her power, it would just awaken when they were in danger?
She shook her head and remembered what Urahara said yesterday.
“If we don’t train her to control the power that she holds, the end of the world will be closer than we think.”
Zuri sighed once more and rolled back over and looked up toward the ceiling, she didn’t know what to do, was Urahara exaggerating in what he said about the world coming to an end if she didn’t control this power? She closed her eyes and thought, and then came to the conclusion that no matter what she didn’t want to control this power, she wanted it gone, but that would never happen.
Zuri decided that she would act like everything that happened yesterday never happened; she wanted to go back to having a normal life.
Zuri finally got out of her bed and trudged her way to the bathroom, she hopped in the shower and turned it on letting the warm droplets gently massage her tense muscles, she found a bruise on her shoulder, and she winced as she touched it.
Once out of the shower Zuri got dressed into her school uniform, her clothes pressed down on the bruise making her hiss in pain. Grabbing her school bag she left for school, she saw Ichigo walking in front of her, he was accompanied by Rukia.
She slowed her pace so she wouldn’t bump into them.
“What are we going to do about Zuri?” Ichigo asked curiously.
Rukia glanced behind her; Zuri won’t be able to hear her reply.
“We must make her come to us” Rukia replied, “We’ll make her realise that she needs to control the power inside her”
Ichigo raised an eyebrow; confused “How are we going to do that?”
“I’ll figure something out, first I need to talk to Urahara” Rukia mumbled walking into the school grounds.
Ichigo sighed and looked up at the sky starting to count the birds that flew past his vision.
They arrived at school and sat in the usual seats, Zuri walked in later once everyone was sat down, the boys in the class sighed dreamily as she entered, they really did admire her.
Zuri sat in front her Ichigo, not even giving him a second glance, she tried to forget yesterday’s incident.
“Class today we’ll be working on projects in pairs” The teacher announced, everyone cheered “I’ll be picking the pairs” Everyone groaned.
The teacher started picking out everyone’s pairs;
“Rukia and Ishida, Chad and Inoue.” The teacher yelled “And Ichigo and Zuri”
Zuri stood up slamming her hands on her desk “There is no way in hell that I’m going to be paired with that...” she paused then her face turned disgusted, while pointing to Ichigo “....thing”
“Hey!” Ichigo protested “That’s my line!”
“Shut up, Strawberry-boy” Zuri spat glancing at Ichigo from the corner of her eye.
