Chapter 22: So close

At the ball, fade and Greenwing were dancing to a classical song along with many others who attended the ball. They were all having a great time dancing. As the song was coming to an end, fade and vibrant were dancing more slowly. Then, vibrant saw Nightbat taking off her coat, revealing her stunning bright purple dress. Vibrant was amazed by Nightbat's beauty and he just kept looking at her. Nightbat looked and saw vibrant, so she smiled at him. Vibrant smiled back. Then, the song came to an end and everyone clapped. Then, fade and vibrant came to Nightbat and Greenwing. Vibrant said "Nightbat! I'm surprised to see you." Nightbat responded with "I'm surprised, you said you couldn't dance." Vibrant then said "I said I didn't dance, I never said I couldn't." Fade then asked Nightbat "who's the cat next to you?" Nightbat responded with "This is Greenwing, my........groom." Greenwing said "a pleasure to meet you. And this is my one true love, Nightbat. My beautiful bride and my second heart's half." Fade was amazed by greenwing's speech and she said "woah" Greenwing asked "something wrong?"
"Oh, just the way you said that."
"Huh?"
"I loved the way you showed no irony....it's very romantic."
"Why thank you." Greenwing said finishing up their convo. Vibrant then said "And this is fade. We're together....." Then, the announcer said "Well folks. It's that time of night. I would like to encourage every man to invite the lady he didn't accompany with this evening to dance the king and queen's waltz." Then, a beautiful ballad song started to play. Vibrant asked Nightbat "shall we?" Nightbat smiled and said "of course." Then, she and vibrant went to the dance floor, followed by Greenwing and fade. Then, the singer of the song started to sing the lyrics.

The music playing on for only two

Nightbat and vibrant then started dancing to the song.

So I bid my goodbye and never knew

As fade and Greenwing were dancing, they were both looking at Nightbat and Greenwing.

So close to reaching to reaching that famous happy end
Almost believing this was not pretend

As Nightbat and vibrant kept dancing, Vibrant was singing a little bit of the song to Nightbat.

As the music kept on playing, Nightbat and vibrant were having the times of their lives dancing with each other. They were smiling so big because they were developing very close feelings to each other. As the song started to come to an end, Fade tapped on vibrant's shoulder and she asked Nightbat "Mind if I come in?" Nightbat was a little surprised, but she said "no not at all......" Then, fade danced with vibrant and Greenwing gently took Nightbat's hand and the two of them started to walk up the stairs. But as they were doing that, Nightbat was sad. Greenwing noticed this and he asked "Are you ok?" Nightbat looked at him, faked smiled, and said "yes, I'm ok...." Greenwing then said "I'll go get your coat." He then went to a room to get her coat.

Nightbat then saw fade and thought she kissed vibrant, but it turned out that she was gonna kiss him but she didn't and so vibrant and fade kept on dancing. Nightbat was very said and she thought that she would never see Vibrant again. "Hello" a voice said. Nightbat turned around to see who it was. It was the strange old cat that pushed Nightbat to möbius.
