Grand Leader sat behind his desk holding a picture frame. It was his old family, before he got drunk one night and killed his wife. So stupid. Then...well, he refused to think about it. But after that event, he was still stupid and got an even stupider wife that was 20 years younger than him. She was 20. He was immortal until he passed his Leadership on. Which would never happen. After that, he got her pregnant and had a baby girl. Seven years ago. But thanks to his potion skills, he used the aging potion on her like you did to every Leader child ever born. It makes their age double, so his daughter was now 14. The sun gleamed in through the window, illuminating his chestnut hair.
"Daddy?" Sherigan said, her long strawberry-blonde hair swishing behind her. "What're you looking at?"
"Nothing sweetheart," Grand said, forcing a smile.
"Okay. I was just wondering why the search Burlies were looking for you."
Grand perked up. "Really? I'll go attend to that right now."
"And I'll follow."
Grand hurried out of his office and down the winding stairs to the big front double doors.
"What is it you need from me?" Grand asked, impatient.
One of the Burlies smiled. "We found her. Or, a link we can use to get to her." The Burly held up a school photo of a Draft sorter boy with dark purple hair and matching eyes.
"Found who? Who is this person?" Sheri asked.
"I don't know. But we'll find out," one of Grand's mistakes would finally right itself. "We're leaving immediately to find this boy. There are only four days until Entertainment, and I want her here before then."
"The private jet is ready, sir."
"Perfect. Sheri, you can come if you want."
"Yay!"
Finally. He wouldn't be as stupid.
*******************************
Don and Phig were running in the woods when they heard it. Don's face fell.
"Oh no....."
Before they could hide, a private jet landed right in front of them, crushing more than a few trees. The door opened, and Grand Leader stepped out. Behind him, a girl with super long hair followed.
"My sweet girl. Come home with us."
"I thought I was your sweet girl Daddy!"
"I have two."
Don scowled. It was the most intense scowl she'd ever done.
"You killed my mother. I will NEVER go back with you. This is my life now."
"It looks like you finally took the quiz," Grand said, pointing out her purple hair.
"I didn't."
"Whatever you say. Please, come home."
Don snapped. "THAT IS NOT MY HOME! YOU ARE AN EGOMANIAC THAT JUST WANTS TO MARRY YOUR DAUGHTER OFF FOR MORE PUBLICITY! SO NO! THIS IS MY HOME! THE WOODS! PHIG! NOT YOU. NEVER WILL IT BE YOU. You haven't done anything for me. You may be my father, but you are NOT my dad."
Phig stood there in shock. He saw the resemblance between father and daughter for a split second, even if Grand Leader had blue eyes instead of hazel.
Grand looked utterly hurt. He quickly regained his composure and a scowl appeared on his face. It was turning into scowl city.
"Fine. We'll take you by force."
Don grabbed Phig's hand and they ran faster then ever before. They ran to Don's home and jumped in.
"I guess we're in trouble now." Phig said shakily.
"No. We aren't. I've got a plan." Don was like her father in one way: potions. Both of them were master potion makers. Don grabbed a concealment potion and drank it. She grabbed another one and held it out to Phig.
"What is this?"
"A concealment potion. Grand won't be able to see or detect us. Everyone except his entourage will, though. Trust me."
Phig had been trusting Don a lot lately. So he took the potion and drank it.
"There. Happy now?"
"Ecstatic. Just lay low for a few days, okay?"
Phig nodded. Don smiled and ushered him out the back door.
"Never again will this happen. You hear me? NEVER."
"You said that last time," Phig laughed. Then he left.
