The dust cleared. Vision came back to Phig. And he was being hoisted to his feet by a Burly.
"Phig...Phig? Listen to me...can you hear me?" Danny says, but it sounds far away, like there's an ocean between them.
Phig shakes his head, and suddenly everything comes into focus. Don is still the only one in the audience standing.
Grand shoots daggers with his eyes at Phig. "You...you and your sorcery are not welcome here. Go! You are now Banished, officially classified for all eternity as a Rogue. One of the Burlies will escort you out, and you are NEVER to come back into this region ever again."
Phig could see Don purse her lip out of the corner of his eye. Was her eye twitching?
Grand points to the door where he came in at, and Danny and Dan follow him out.
"I'll go with you," Dan says. "But I'm not just going to escort you out, I'm going to stay with you."
"I'm staying here to be with Don. She's going to need support here," Danny turns away from Phog and locks eyes with Dan. "We'll see each other again 'soon'" he does air quotations around the soon.
"Don't bring that up with me ever again, and we will. I'm not proud of that period of time."
"Three years, more like. Anyway, you guys will see me and your other purple-haired friend again. And Dan's version of that word is in perfect context here, because we're not sure when that will be." Danny shrugs. "But it WILL be."
Phig was very confused as to what just happened. He didn't know what period of time they were talking about, and he wasn't sure if he exactly wanted to know.
"Now, I can't think of a good song reference, so I'm just going to have to say this- till we meet again," Danny says, looking back at them one more time before he goes back into the Arena.
"Let's see what the Beyond holds." Dan smiles a cheeky grin.
