Chapter 5 Work

                          As i step out of the double doors at school I pop my headphones in my ear and start walking. I walk down to a little cafe called Land of Sweets  which suits the place. I mean with the counter full of jars of anything from lollipops to gummy bears and of course coffee.  As I take a look around at the place i see everyday  Mr.Adams comes out of the back,"What are  you doing just standing there go get on your uniform and get ready for a wave of knucklehead kids." Mr.Adam is a really sweet old man and as you guessed my new boss. See his wife bought the cafe 10 years ago when she was in her sixties, but she unfortunately got cancer a couple years after that. She had basically been living in the hospital until she passed away last year. Mr.Adams would have shut down the shop but before Mrs.Adams died she asked him to keep it going just for her. Which is how i got the job. See he needed help and i needed something to do. He noticed that i came in here everyday and approached me one evening and asked if i wanted a job, i was reluctant but he explained about his wife and how badly she wanted the shop to stay open, but he was having trouble doing it himself. So, i agreed to work and I have not regretted it for a second. This has become my safe place, not to mention i can have all the gummy bears i want. Yummy! After i'm dressed. I head out to the front and get started taking orders and making coffee.

                      As i finish up cleaning the shop, i take out my phone and turn it back on. I keep it off when i'm working because when i don't Kat and Andrew blow my phone up. Just to get me in trouble! As you can see i have very mean friends. I check my phone to see how many messages i have and i have 50, which is more than the amount I usually get. I check to see who there from, as i scroll down i see 10 texts from Kat, 17 from Andrew, and 23 from Zach. I ignore Kat and Andy's texts and go straight to Zach's texts and quickly the first message asked me where i was as i scroll down i see that his texts are getting more urgent by the second, oooops! I forgot to tell him I had a job and that I had a shift today. Que nervous laughing. I text Zach," I'm okay. Sorry i had my phone turned off. I'm closing up at work right now." "WE ARE HAVING A LOOONG CONVERSATION, YOUNG LADY! Where are you? I'll come get you." I text him the address, put everything away, change, and lock the doors. When i lock the doors Zach pulls up and jumps out of the car,"You crazy little sister of mine. You scared me." He pulls me into a hug and i'm all wrapped up in his arms, i bury my face in his chest, he slowly lets go and grabs my face making me look at him,"Don't forget to tell me anything this important again. I forgive you this time, because I know you never report to anyone anymore, but please don't scare me like that again.Now, let's go get some food, ok?" "Yeah, alright and im sorry." He just smiles,"let's go."

                                    We're finally home. As i walk in the house i look around, expecting to be ambushed. I slowly make my way in the living room and put down all my stuff. Huh, I guess i'm not getting jumped tonight. I make my way to my room and get ready for a shower before bed. I hop out of the shower and get dressed. I sit down on the edge of my bed, grab my brush off the vanity, and put my hair up. After i'm done i crawl in bed and let sleep consume me.
