(Joanne's Point of View)
Today was the day. My first date with Joel. I hadn't seen him since the day after we told each other how we really felt. He'd told me he had to go down to London for a week and that he would explain everything soon. I didn't even know anything about the date. It was a surprise and he'd said he would text me details so I didn't turn up dressed completely wrong. I sat down at my dressing table and started to dry my hair. I was till waiting on a text from him. I flicked the hair dryer on and quicky set about getting my hair dry. I finished and leant over to check my phone and found I had a text from Joel.
From Joel: Hey don't think I forgot about texting you. Just dress casual for tonight. Can't wait to see you! x
I smiled at the text and sent a quick reply. I went back to my dressing table and turned my ghd's on before going and rooting through my wardrobe. I pulled out a pair of dark shorts and a white vest with my blue hoody. Simple outfit but still amazing to me. I pulled out the box at the bottom of my wardrobe and started pulling out all the shoes which were sat inside. I found my white Converse and chucked them over to the bottom of my bed. I heard my ghd's bleep at me meaning I could finally get started with that. It didn't take me long to finish that and do my make up. After that I threw my clothes on and grabbed everything I needed. I was just glad my family were out for the night. It meant I wouldn't get a thousand questions asked before I left to meet Joel at his. I checked myself in the mirror one last time before heading out the door, locking it behind me. I headed down the path and turned to head to Joel's hoewever I walked right into someone instead.
"Well isn't someone in a rush to see me." I looked up and smiled when I seen it was Joel I'd walked into. He leant down and kissed me cheek.
"I was hardly rushing." I mumbled, feeling the blush burn at my face. He just laughed and gently grabbed my hand.
"I was joking, don't worry. Now come on we have a date." he said. I smiled and waited for him to tell me where we were going. He didn't and instead we turned around and headed back towards his house. It was like that night we first kissed. He led me the exact same way, through the exact same hole in the bushes. It was exactly like that night. Everything was the same. The only different thing was that the stars weren't out instead the sky was a mix of orange, pink and blue. There was a large picnic blanket spread out on the ground by the log and there in middle of it was Chinese take out. I grinned and turned to Joel.
"It' perfect Joel. How did you know that I loved Chinese?" I asked. He grinned at me.
"I have some sources of information." he answered. I frowned at him.
"Tell me please?" I said sweetly. He just pulled me in by the waist.
"Josh told me. I wanted to make sure this was the perfect first date for you." he whispered leaning down to peck my lips. "Now come on before it gets cold." he added, pulling me over towards the blanket. I sat down with my back against the log and let him sort out the food for us.
"So moving from Scotland to here must have been hard." he said. I nodded before taking a sip of water.
"Yeah it was considering we moved from everything we've ever known. But we have family down here as well so it isn't as bad." I explained. "But we're building a new life here. We moved for my dad because of this promotion." I added on. He just nodded.
"Well for what its worth I'm glad you did. Otherwise I'd never have met you." he smiled. Again, I felt my cheeks burn bright.
"I'm glad we did too." I smiled back. "So tell me, do you do this for all your first dates?" I asked. He shook his head.
"You're actually the first girl I've taken out on a proper first date. All the others well, its never been anything like this." he said leaving it at that. I nodded.
"Well you clearly know how to take a girl on an amazing date and tonights a really good example of this." I said.
"Thanks." he said. I shivered as the cold breeze brushed across my back. Joel clearly noticed and picked up his jumper and put it around my shoulders. I hadn't even realised I'd forgotton my hoody when I left. "Making it a habit of needing to wear my jumpers aren't you?" he chuckled.
"I genuinely thought I'd brought mine. Next time I promise I will have my own jumper or jacket or whatever." I laughed.
"So there's going to be a next time is there?" he asked. I nodded.
"Yeah there will be. If you answer one question." I said. He smiled.
"Anything."
"Where do you keep disappearing to? You just disappear for weeks, months at a time. Where is it you go?" I asked.
"London. I'm in a band with Ryan and two other guys. We're trying to sort out some small gigs to do and we've been uploading videos to YouTube. I go down there to work on all that with them. So yeah, that's where I disappear to." he explained.
"Seriously? That's awesome." I said. "Just don't forget about me when you're big and famous getting all the girls." I giggled.
"How will I forget about you when you'll be right there with me when I'm big and famous? This may just be date number one but seriously, you're the only girl for me." he said leaning over and kissing my cheek.
"Cute." I smiled as I grabbed onto his hand. "Want to walk me home now? It's getting late." I asked as we stood up and started to tidy everything away.
"Of course I will." he grinned. He put everything in a pile by the entrance in the hedges and climbed through then helped me through as well. We slowly made our way up his garden and around the side of his house to the front. Its started spitting with rain as we got to the end of his path and before we knew it it was as if there was a waterfall pouring over us. Joel started running pulling me along behind him seeing as our hands were intwined.
"Joel come on! I can't run as fast as you can!" I whined. He paused and with the rain now pounding off the ground he let me jump on his back and ran with me the rest of the way to my house. I jumped off his back as we reached my gate and opened it.
"There. Home and well not so dry." he laughed pulling at his hoody. I smiled and looked down at my clothes. It was true, we were both soaked through to the skin.
"I don't care. Not after such an amazing night." I said softly.
"I'm glad you had a good time. At least this didn't start a few hours ago." he laughed.
"I did. We should do it again sometime." I smiled. He grinned at me and nodded.
"Definitely! Now I think you better get inside and changed out those wet clothes. You can keep my jumper for just now." he said. I nodded and went to turn around and walk up the path way but something was stopping me. I turned back and found Joel holding on to my wrist.
"Can't exactly go inside if you're holding on to me Joel." I laughed.
"Yeah but I can't let you go without doing this first." he said and leant down to kiss me. Total cliche of kissing in the rain but it was definitely perfect. Especially when its Joel Peat you're kissing.
