*Aeron's P.O.V*
I was finally able to surface from the water when the people emptied their guns while shooting into the water. I'm not going to say they have terrible aim or that they missed because they didn't.
A bullet pierced my shoulder. You would think water would slow a bullet down, but it just made it easier to rip through me.
I got the strength to swim to the bank and crawled out of the blood riddled water, onto the dirt underneathe a tree. I laid there with my eyes closed, trying to slow my breathing.
The darkness that devours my sight was dotted with colorful specs. I was sure that I was dead, but dead people don't breathe, so I was most likely over exaggerating. My eyes peeled open as a deep voice reverberated through the air.
"Don't rest now, Miles! Soon, it'll all come crumbling down!" It warns.
I rolled my head to the side and looked up at the area where I jumped from the road. The last two people were standing there, gawking down at me. Their faces were still covered in masks, but I could see the woman's hair. The light made it hard to focus on it, but I got a hint of pink and blue.
I pushed myself up to my hands and dragged myself to the trunk of the tree, leaning against it.
"My last name is Styles, you dumb fucks!" I scream back.
They seemed to laugh and turned to depart from the narrow strip of asphalt that provided Liam's getaway.
I rolled my eyes and swallowed the lump in my throat as the pain in my hip, shoulder and wrist grew more pronounced. I couldn't do anything about it. I sure as hell am not going to stumble around, looking for help. I don't need help. I just need to get all of this shit out of me.
I made slow process of removing my vest and rolled it up, putting it in my mouth and bit down on it. My eyes closed and my fingers felt for the wounds set into my skin. The first one I found was my hip. I bit down on the vest as I pushed the tip of my finger inside of my skin until I felt the bullet. It wasn't too far, so it would be easy to get that out. I forced my thumb in and grabbed the bullet, pulling. The stretching of my skin worsening the pain.
I got the bullet out and studied its features. Small, round, painful to remove. Most likely from a twenty-two caliber. Pea-shooter compared to the magnum I had used.
I reached to the back of my shoulder and took that one out, screaming profanities through my teeth as I did. I let the vest fall from my mouth and stuffed the bullets in my pocket. They weren't bent or changed in any way. Just had my blood on them. Easy to clean and I've got plans for them later.
I put my vest back on and zipped it up, pushing myself up by the trunk of the oak tree and made it to my feet. Staying under this tree isn't getting me back to where I need to be, so maybe walking around to find the way back to the road would.
Living in Wolverhampton for nearly nine years has advantages. I know my way around here like I knew my old home in Ohio.
If I lived in Ohio, you're probably wondering how I came to meet Liz, since she's originally from New York.
When I was thirteen, she had just moved down to Columbus and she was new to my school. I wasn't one to go around and make friends because I wasn't a very social kid, but she didn't know her way around the school. I showed her to most of her classes and when her mom couldn't, my mom and I would show her around the area.
I haven't been back to Ohio since the explosion that killed my parents and nearly blew us to shreds as well. The house was destroyed along with everything in it. I managed to save something. My photo of Liz and I. That was it. All that I wanted too.
