Chapter Five:

{Alivia's POV}

The next morning, I didn't remember how I ended up at the castle, or how I was rescued. All I had remembered was leaving the castle, going to Mother's grave, being chased by a moving figure, and that was it.

Father, and Eugenia were furious at what I had done, and furious at Grant for being a partial cause to the mess. And since our parents were furious they put us into more training, more lessons and less time seeing each other, not that I really minded, I was still mad at him for treating me in such a nasty way. Both in my childhood and at the ball.

That summer went quicker than I thought it was, which is a blessing and a curse.

Playing card games with Grant, winning, playing card games with Brandin, winning and talking to the guards more often helped move it along. And before I knew it, my nineteenth birthday was approaching, and Grant had turned twenty and two.

It was the summer that determined everything. Although the difference between this summer and the previous summers, is we might not stay the whole time.

What is going to happen is Father and I will arrive in Kurtley, I will head straight to the room I stay in, not even seeing him, and then we will both meet each other, seeing each other for the first time in a whole year (Christmas was canceled after the whole running away thing) and then we will decide whether we wish to merge the kingdoms and our lives in matrimony.

If we don't, Father and I will go home, and live our lives. And if I say yes, we will stay and make wedding preparations for the end of the summer. And that was that.

The only thing keeping me through it was Antonio. He would write me letters back and forth, and one Christmas he sent me a present. It was his kingdom's lion symbol on a red handkerchief. In return I sent him one. Also a few more paints and pastels since he liked to paint.

Grace, my ladies maid, stayed at the palace with her husband, and her newest two children. A cute boy named William after their king, and Anita after Grace's mother.

Gilda, sadly passed on, due to old age. But Roger, Grant's tutor was still alive and bossing everyone around like it was his business.

As for my looks, well, I had defiantly changed over the year. I was bustier, taller, and was mature beyond my years. My father says my fiasco when I was seventeen really set me in my place. He said I was the image of my mother, although her hair was a lot lighter, I still loved the compliments.

Brandin, now a Duke, was engaged to be married to a stout women named Emma. They were the cutest couple ever, despite their size, they were also rather comical. And were expecting a baby in December.

Grant on the other hand, continued to purse in looks, exceeding all others. Surpassing Adonis, and despite the gender Aphrodite, the Greek gods and Goddesses.

His swordsman ship was excellent, and his archery was his best. Playing catch and fire as a child really helped in that area. If I remember correctly, he even took up singing, and sang beautifully.

"Astounding." I heard Grace say behind my chair. I smiled. "Even thought tis a simple red dress, Grace? Come now, let us marvel in your beauty, not my own. You are the true beauty in this room. I think hear all the men in court calling your name. Grace! O how we want the love of the beauty Grace!" I smiled, listening to her gorgeous laugh.
