~Grant's POV~
How could he just walk into my kingdom, and claim he knows where the love of my life is?
Since when was this the way of the world?
"Stop shaking your leg Grant. I'm just as nervous as you are and you don't see me, jumping my leg around like that." I overheard Braindin through the hallway I saw him walk over to where I was sitting.
"I just want him to wake up so he can tell me where Alivia is..." Brandin scoffed at me. "Shouldn't of knocked him out then." Brandin spat at me.
"I know, I just lost my temper." I said under my breath. I had sent word to fetch Brandin as soon as they could. Seems he was already on his way back when my men found him.
"Your majesty. He is awake." Rodger called out to me. I sat up and walked towards the dungeon door, its rotting wood, and cast iron bars gave it the eery affect compared to the rock hallway it resides in.
"Grant." I turned and looked at Brandin. "Yes?" I asked.
"Don't do something stupid. He's all we have on finding Alivia." I nodded, his words truly sinking into my heart and mind. He really was.
When I approached Antonio, my sword was at hand, and my guards were in defence mode.
"What do you know of the kidnapping of Queen Alivia? And how have you come across this knowledge? I suggest you answer wisely because I will not hesitate to slice off your arm."
Antonio looked straight into my eyes. I noticed immediately the bruise i had left from my punch on his eye. It won't go anywhere anytime soon.
"I helped in the kidnapping. That's how. But before you rip me to pieces; my father is the leader." Grants hand was shaking.
"Who is your father?" My voice was slightly nerved and almost squeaky.
"Rupert. Rupert the sorcerer. He was banished by Alivia's father, that's why he killed him. And now we wishes to take her kingdom and make her my queen so then we can all rule together."
Grant sat in the chair across from Antonio. Could his words be true? He thought.
I have heard many things said about this Rupert the sorcerer. He had caused hundreds of deaths, a plague, animals to die, water to disappear, and the crops to dry out. But could Antonio really be his son.
"How come you have no magic?" Grant asked. "I do have magic. And I can prove it. But not with these shackles on." Grant motioned for the guards to move them.
He only hopes that this wasn't a trick. Antonio reached into his pocket and felt for the locket. "Do you have her locket?" Grant looked at Antonio and shook his head no, but a guard came and handed it to Grant.
Grants fingers flexed over the cool metal. It's engraving of the swan still inside. He remembered when he had found her, in the jungle and the locket shinned a bright white light.
He remember the time he was playing swords with Brandin when he was ten and he hid from him in the music room. But he had stumbled upon Alivia playing the piano.
The tune was one her mother used to sing to her father. The tune haunting him whenever he would go near the room.
"Why do you need it..?" Grant was hesitate. This locket had meant a lot to him and Alivia, and he didn't want Antonio to ruin something of there's. Something special.
"I am going to prove to you my magic. And I'm going to enchant the locket, so that you can use it to find it. And when you find her, it will protect her, from the....dangers there."
"What dangers? Is she hurt?" My voice was weak. Alivia could be suffering so much, and I couldn't even help her. As soon as my weak state was over, I felt a burning sensation none that gave me strength. One that I knew was a burst of energy from determination.
"No, she's not hurt. Not yet. If we don't get there soon, we may be too late." Then Antonio began speaking in an ancient tounge, and his hand began to glow a dark red, the necklace floating into the air. And then it glowed the same white color that it did when Grant found her in the woods.
"Now we must follow it, and it will take you too her. But I warn you, all magic comes with a price. So whatever this price is, its a big one." Grant ignoring his word, grabbed the necklace and went to find Brandin.
"Brandin! Rodger! Gather the horses! We have found our princess!"
