Chapter 4

Kelsey's room to the side


I get out of my bed and slowly try to talk myself out of what I'm about to do.

I walk out of my bedroom and find myself knocking quietly on Kelsey's door. I decide that if she doesn't answer in five knocks then I'm going back to my room and pretend this never happened.

I knock lightly and count one. Then again, again, and again.

Only one more try. I raise up my hand for a final time right before Kelsey's door swings open.

"Hey babe-" She cuts herself off. "Oh, hey Ashlynn." She says.

"Um hey." I say switching from one foot to another.

"So what do you want?" She asks.

"I um- was-I wanted- Can I-"

I get cut off by thunder. I jump and Kelsey smiles a bit. "Are you afraid of storms?" She asks me. I slowly nod and she laughs a bit.

I roll my eyes and say "If you're just gonna make fun of me then I'm gonna leave." I turn around, but Kelsey grabs my hand and pulls my inside.

"Come in here girl, so what do you want to do. I have board games, Hulu....." She says yawning. "Well I'm kind of tired...." I say looking at her. Kelsey looks at me for a while until her eyes widen.

"Wait, wait ,wait. Hear me out. It's not like we're gonna do anything. And no one will ever have to know. Besides it's just sleeping."

Kelsey looks at me skeptically "I don't know Ashlynn. I don't think Maddie would be to happy with this. Don't you have a boyfriend anyways?"

I roll my eyes and say "Who's gonna tell them. Besides like I said we'll just be sleeping. And do you see Maddie or Jake in here? They'll never know." Kelsey starts thinking and I sit down on her bed.

"Please Kelsey. Just for tonight." Kelsey bites her lip and says "My bed isn't even that big." I see a flash of lightning and thunder cracks loudly.

I jump a bit and tears start to appear in my eyes. I'm a little bitch when it comes to storms. I look at Kelsey with pleading eyes before saying "Please. Just for tonight. Please Kelsey." I can't believe I'm begging. What has my life come to?

Kelsey pulls me into her arms and hugs me. "There there. It's okay. Thunder isn't gonna hurt you. Go and lay down in the bed, i'll be back soon." Kelsey walks into her bathroom and I get under the covers.

Her bed is way warmer than mine. A few minutes pass and Kelsey comes out. "I had a feeling you wouldn't be asleep."

She says turning off the lights. Everything is dark and I feel the bed sink down. "Now this might get a little complicated." She says as she's entering the bed.

We try to position ourselves in a comfortable way without being awkward and without being too close. We finally give up and just end up spooning each other. Me being the little spoon.

I start to calm down a bit until I hear more thunder. I jump a little bit and Kelsey holds me tight. "It's okay baby. It's fine. Everything's okay." she cooes at me.

I start to calm down, but she keeps whispering sweet nothings into my ear. "You're gonna be okay. You're strong and amazing and beautiful and funny and kind and cute and everything that's good."

I think she thinks I'm asleep now. I have to admit that I am dozing off. "You're everything I could ever want." She says.

That's the last thing I hear before I go to sleep.
