Chapter 7

Rayne on the side

I don't show up to the rest of class. The next time I actually see Kelsey is at dinner and I don't make eye contact.

"So where were you during class? Kelsey said you weren't feeling bad, but I know that's probably not the truth. Did she like r-a-p-e you or something. You can tell us." Stacy says.

I smile and say "I wasn't feeling that good. I think it might've been because I didn't eat breakfast. But i'm fine now. Thanks for caring though girly"

Stacy smiles and our conversation moves to something else. Our table suddenly goes quiet and I see why.

Kelsey is with Maddie and they're about to walk by. "What do you want to do?" London asks me. I shush her and wait for them to pass me.

As soon as Kelsey is close enough to hear me I say "Faggot"

The girls erupt with laughter and Maddie looks like she's about to cry. Kelsey however basically had steam coming out of her head.

"What did you say to me Ashlynn." Kelsey says stopping Maddie from moving any farther. I look up at her and say "What are you talking about Kelsey. Not every conversation that I have is about you. Stop being so paranoid."

Kelsey rolls her eyes and before I even know what's happening she jerks me up fast. Kelsey lets go of Maddie's arm and holds on tightly to me. She takes me to a corner and whisper yells.

"Okay, you do what whatever you want to me. Just don't mess with Maddie. If I ever hear or see that you did something disrespectful to her you'll regret it. Got it?"

As she's talking her grip on my arm tightens. "Ow, Kelsey you're hurting me." I try to say to get free.

Kelsey holds on for a bit longer and i'm surely about to cry. She finally lets go and I immediately look down at my wrist. There's a huge handprint. I'm positive there will be a bruise tomorrow.

Kelsey walks away from me and I quickly walk up to one of the random counselors. "Hey, um excuse me?" I ask her. She turns around and says "Oh hey. Ashlynn right?"

I nod my head. "So how can I help you." She says moving away from the counselors table.

"I was um wondering if I could go to the nurse." She quickly agrees and we go to the campus nurse. While we wait we start talking.

"So what's your name again?" I shyly ask. The counselor laughs and says "My name is Rayne. My parents are really weird hippies so yeah"

That makes me laugh and I loosen up around her. The nurse finally comes to help me and asks what's wrong. I slowly show her my wrist and Rayne gasps.

"Who did this to you?" They both ask in sync. I look down to the floor and they both sigh. "Ashlynn, you have to tell us if you're being bullied." Rayne says.

I shake my head quickly and say "Oh no, i'm not being bullied. Someone's temper just got a little bit out of hand."

They both try for the next 10 minutes to get me to tell who it was but I won't budge. There are somethings that you just don't tell.

The nurse ends up giving me some cream to put on it and she bandages it up. The nurse leave to file some paperwork and i'm left with Rayne.

"Let's walk back to the dorms." Rayne says. "Lunch is already over, so the girls should be back in class." We both get up and start walking.

"Ashlynn. You can trust me." I nod my head. "Let me re-phrase that. Do you trust me?"

I smile at Rayne and say "Rayne I trust you and all, but i'm not telling you what happened. I'm sorry but I just can't" Rayne huffs but soon lets it go.

"Well what can I do to make it better?" She asks.

I just shrug my shoulders.

"Would a kiss happen to make it feel better?" Rayne asks.
