I slowly stood up after what seemed like hours of Elijah holding me one the floor.
I looked at the door and back at him, he nodded yes.
I needed to talk to these people, explain what happened.
I took a step forward, but felt the tendrils pulling on my legs making them way a ton, I sighed loudly and they slowly disappeared.
Strange, why were they trying to keep me from going?
As I turned the doorknob I felt Elijah's hand on my shoulder. I turned to see him with a grim look on his face.
He sighed and said "I should probably tell you Mason is a tracker" I must've looked confused because he looked at the ground then said "he hunts and kills what's been touched by darkness."
I felt like the wind had just been knocked out of me, he killed people like me.
I clutched my stomach, feeling as if I was going to hurl.
"What the fuck Elijah? You probably could've mentioned that earlier! The fact that I killed a tracker's son is pretty damn important."
I felt the tendrils presence swarming around me. Elijah took a step towards me with his hand reaching out to me.
"Baby, babygirl? You need to calm. Okay? This is what darkness does it manifests off of fear and anger." He took another step closer.
"I'm not scared and I'm not angry! Jesus Christ! There's nothing with my darkness!" I shot back at him feeling the tendrils energy go haywire.
He shook his head at me and stood up straight.
Shit, he was right. I could feel my palms itching were the tendrils were focusing at, ready to follow orders. I shook my head and took a deep breathe.
I felt the tendrils relax a bit.
"See, love? Just breathe." I heard Elijah's soothing voice.
I relaxed a bit more and felt then energy lessen. Okay, I could control this, I can control this.
I felt the tendrils presence leave and looked at my feet, only on remained. It was small, frail. I frowned and spoke to it softly "Why so frail little one?"
It's slinked up my body and wrapped around my forearm over and over in what I assumed was a show of love.
I smiled lightly and heard Elijah's harsh voice cut through the calm silence with "It hasn't eaten, unlike the others. I told you the feed off of fear and anger."
"Oh." I looked at the small thing curling into me "I'm so sorry baby."
I heard Elijah scoff and say "You could feed it. It'd have to feed off of you."
I looked at him quizzically and he shook his head.
"Blood. They also feed off of blood..death." I gasped and felt the tendril tense.
      Elijah froze in place.
"Kellin.." he hesitated.
"No, no, no. We don't hurt Eli. Okay? I'll feed you, just relax." I heard Elijah sigh.
I raised my free hand to my mouth and used my dang to slice the meaty part of my palm.
The tendril immediately leaped to the gash and slowly started to plumpen up. I felt a numb buzzing feeling throughout my body. I smiled lightly and waited until the tendril looked healthy and lightly tapped it, it dissolved into the wound and as it did so the wound closed, almost completely invisible. Leaving just the slightest white scar.
I turned toward the door and marched out of it triumphantly. I heard Elijah follow behind me.
As I made my ways panther stairs Elijah caught up and placed his hand in mine, giving me a reassuring squeeze.
I smiled and we made our way the the headmistress's office.
I knocked twice and the door crept open revealing the red headed woman who had just been with Mason who'd tried to attack me.
She managed a meek smile and ushered us into the room.
The headmistress sat at her desk listening to an irate Mason Carter yelling about how he could feel the darkness running its muck through this school. She smiled when her eyes met mine and asked us to sit.
I took a seat on the love seat farthest from where Mason and the still unnamed woman sat at Headmistress Crain's desk.
Mason shot daggers at me with his cold green eyes. I smiled at him politely and felt my palm start to tingle.
Bad move Kellin. Really bad move. His large lips spread into a closed lipped grin.
I felt my palm go from tingling to burning.
I cringed at the spreading pain and his smile dropped.
The headmistress started talking first. "As you know, we have lost several people. Alec and a slave, Savannah." I cringed thinking of how if maybe I'd been quicker, or hadn't even said anything maybe she'd still be here..I looked at my lap and my hand that'd just been burning. The once small scar had grown. What was happening? I lightly tapped at it and saw a small black worm like thing move underneath. I gasped and shook my hand forcefully.
I saw Mason's gnarled eyebrow raise in curiosity.
The headmistress, Ms.Crain  gasped at my outburst and and yelled something I couldn't hear.
I felt Elijah's strong hand hold my wrist and bring it to his chest. I felt my fear subside a bit and I could finally hear and comprehend what was being yelled. Ms. Crain was asking about what had just happened.
How was I supposed to explain that? I shook my head and took a deep breathe.
"The scar on my palm" I pointed towards it without touching it. "it grew a little, so it's bigger, but..when I tapped on it to feel it and see what was happening because it was burning, something in my hand.." I hesitated slightly before saying "moved."
I saw Mason's face drop. He slowly stood up with his palms out towards me to show he meant no harm and walked towards me. I cringed a little and felt my hand begin to burn again and saw a tendril snake up my calf.
"Dear, I'm not going to hurt you, honestly. I think you may be hurting yourself. Let me see this." He reached for my handle slowly and I moved it up for him to grab.
He turned it palm up and examined the scar closely. His expression fell into a quizzical look, then all of a sudden he jumped back. He must've saw the thing move.
"We-we-well?" I stammered to get out.
I could feel my body starting to shake.
He looked at my hand in utter disgust and fear.
"You let it feed off of you. It's power and destruction is running through your veins now." He let go of my hand abruptly and turned around to look at Mrs.Crain.
I felt Elijah's fingers entangle with mine and a reassuring squeeze. I attempted a smile but knew it didn't reach my eyes.
I could hear the mumbles of Mrs.Crain and Mason whispering.
I heard the unnamed redhead clear her throat, for some reason she reminded me of Savannah. I felt a small smile play on the edge of my lips as I looked at her, noticing her and Savannah had many extremely similar features. She looked at me and I saw her eyes crinkle at the corners as she smiled and said "Hello, my name is Lillian. I am Mr.Carter's slave. And perhaps-" Mason cut her off quickly with glare so cold it could have froze hell over.
I saw her squirm and look away from the pearling glare.
"Well, Lillian because you feel the need to but into business that doesn't pertain to you, you can go to the hall and wait." I saw her solemnly get up and go to the hall, quietly shutting the door behind her without throwing a quick wink my way.
What had that meant? I longingly looked at the closed door.
My attention was returned to Mason Carter because of a quiet sigh from Mrs.Crain.
I watched him slowly turn around and ask me to leave the room while they spoke about my repercussions.
I felt Elijah tense beside me. I looked at him with love in my eyes and kissed him on the cheek then left the room.
As soon as I shut the door behind me I was tackled by the unnamed redhead.
She had me pinned when I slowly opened my eyes and was looking at Savannah.
I gasped and shut my eyes again.
I took a deep breathe and opened them again. It was for a fact Savannah.
"It's not polite to stare." I heard "Savannah" say.
That's when I was frustrated and overwhelmed I flipped her quickly and I was on top. There was a loud oomph as all the air forces it way out of her lungs. She gasped to catch her breathe and whisper yelled "Hey stupid. Let me the hell up and I can explain why the hell i'm not the ginger that's dead!"
I slowly got up and watched as she did the same.
"Explain." I said bluntly.
"Well, I was in my room and Alec came in and you know.." she looked at the floor and back at me, "well when he left the bathroom, I locked the door. I was crying on the floor when some girl came in through the small window and asked me to hide in the towel closet because she knew I wasn't safe, her name was Lillian Vance. She was Mason Carter's real slave, apparently his wife sent her to keep me safe. After you burst in the doors and took her this woman came into the bathroom and scooped me up to take me to Mason's home were thanks to some amazing contouring skills on her part changed my features to look almost just like Lillian." a big grin plastered across her face while she told me this.
"What the fuck Sav?" I shook my head taking a step toward her. "so you're actually alive?" she grinned and shook her head yes.
I closed the distance between us quickly and wrapped her in my arms. I knew if I wasn't careful my new strength would crush her.
"Oh my god, you're a live." I keep saying over and over into her hair as I cried.
She hugged me back and I felt her hot tears on my cold skin.
As the Headmistress's door opened I jumped back putting a good distance of atleast three feet between us and saw Elijah rushing out of the door. He looked at me and then Savannah in disguise and said hastily as he grabbed my arm "We have to go, Mason wants you dead." I looked into the room to see Mason's hand wrapped around Mrs.Crain's throat, I took a step towards the door to help her, but Elijah tugged me forward. I could tell by the fear in his ice blue eyes we didn't have much time. I choked out "Savannah isn't dead." and looked at her. Elijah as if just now looking at her stopped completely. He scooped her up in his arms and took of running toward the stairs. I followed knowing exactly where he was going, Colton's room.
