•Colton's POV•
I sat in my room, willing myself to feel something.
I lost her. I hadn't had her long and I knew as long as she wasn't an aristic we couldn't be together legally, but I was gonna take her, take her and run. All of us. Her, Kellin, Elijah and I. We were going to run, be a family. Elijah may have been younger than me, but he had power, connections. Probably more than our father himself.
I felt it, deep within my chest, a horrible ache. I could feel the literal heart break. It hurt, I fell in love with that small girl the second our eyes locked at that party. The wild way she knew what I was the second she saw me, but she didn't try to get out of there, not until Elijah chose Kellin. Savannah, not a second did she worry about her fate, but only Kellin's. That's the soul she had, the beauty of love and care. She couldn't help it, she knew Kellin would kill for her, and she knew if it really came down to it she'd do the same. That's why she was gone. She was gone!
I felt the hot tears stream down my face. I hadn't cried in over two centuries. I felt myself choke as I screamed letting myself slide off the edge of the bed and onto the floor. I put my head into my hands and let all the emotion I had out.
I slowly stood up and walked to the bathroom. I splashed my face with water and patted it dry.
I looked at my reflection in the mirror. My green eyes bloodshot and my dark hair a mess. I leaned my head against the mirror letting out a sigh.
When I looked back at the mirror, I noticed at the edge something was sticking out a bit from the frame.
My finger lightly grazed it, and it fell from behind the mirror.
A piece of the paper off my desk. My family seal on the side showing to me. A snake wrapping around and biting a heart. That small and quite disturbing seal made me smile, what it stood for. The heart, love and loyalty. The snake, danger, power. And the fact that the snake was biting the heart represented our determination to defend each other with whatever it took.
Like Kellin and Savannah..
I sighed and turned the paper over, there was a note that simply read:"I'm not gone.
-Savannah"
I felt my breathe catch in my throat, what was this what'd it mean.
I leaned against the sink to steady myself when I heard my door burst open and slam shut, followed by the click of a lock.
I sighed and turned towards the doors leading to my room, there I stood face to face with Savannah.
She rushed into my arms hugging me, weeping into my shirt. Apologizing for hurting me like that. My Savannah wasn't dead. I felt her small form push against me as I wrapped my arms around her, squeezing as hard as I could without hurting her.
I was in a state of shock when Kellin's sharp voice shook me out of it.
"Hate to kill the mood, but I have a homicidal tracker on my heels! Let's go! You both pack a bag and we'll meet you back here to leave in five minutes." She yelled before running out of the room behind Eli.
I pulled away from Savannah, studying every part of her little face, she looked a bit different, but it was her. I smiled and leaned down to kiss her but stopped half way when I heard a hard thump on the other side of the bathroom wall followed by Kellin yelling "Pack don't kiss!"
I watched Savannah in a daze as she turned and grabbed a book bag stuffed in a couple pairs of pants and shirts into it. After she looked at me expectantly I followed and started packing my own bag.
I'd just finished packing when Kellin burst into the room and Elijah soon after. Someone quicker than Elijah, damn that's hard.
Elijah slammed the door and locked it just in time for someone to slam into the other side. By the sounds of it, it was Mason Carter. Dammit, he was the tracker after her. I should've known.
Another hard thump as he threw all his weight into the door. Damn were we lucky to have atleast bullet proof doors or it would've caved in by now.
I felt Savannah clutching into me with all the force she had. I held her back. Asking if there was a plan now.
I saw Kellin by the large window on my wall. She was looking down at the ground.
"We're jumping." She said simply.
I yelled my protest as another blow to the door happened, I heard a low creack and saw the hinges starting to loosen. Two or three more hits and we were done for.
I watched Elijah throw his bag on his back and open the window. He nodded at us then dropped off the side. I heard a thump as he landed. Kellin looked at me expectantly and I nodded yes.
I took my bag off and hoisted Savannah onto my back. Another blow to the door, another low creak. I cringed and got onto the window sill. I felt Savannah tighten her grip and I jumped.
I landed right beside Elijah. He was watching the window. I kept Savannah on my back ready to run. Kellin tossed my bag down and Elijah caught it, swiftly putting it over his other shoulder. Man was I thankful for this kid.
I heard a loud crash and then heard Kellin yell one thing as she jumped out of the window wildly "RUN!"
