I had just pulled my bag on when the door slammed open.
I didn't even turn around, I started running and leaped out of the widow uncoordinatedly.
All I could think was they needed to run, now.
"RUN!" I screamed as I flailed trough the air.
I landed with a loud thud, my knees half bent and locked up. Pain ripping up my legs from the horrible landing.
Almost immediately after landing we took off running.
I was fast, really fast. Out running Colton and Elijah easily. We only ran for ten or fifteen minutes, but I quickly saw a sign reading "NOW LEAVING GREENSVILLE."
I felt Elijah's hand grab my arm and slide off to stop me. By the time I stopped I was at least two hundred yards away.
I heard everything, the birds chirping, water not to far away running, the sound of cars out on the road we'd been keeping our distance from.
I slowly walked back to my friends, my heart beat pounding in my ears. It was until I got over their and Savannah threw her arms around me that I realized it was hers, not mine. It hit me, I don't have heart beat. I took a sharp breathe in and her scent hit me. Ginger with a hint of sweetness. I pulled back, pushing her away from me. My throat was burning like someone had just stuck a burning rod down it.
I couldn't move my eyes from her. She looked at me in horror, my head was swimming in a daze. I could faintly hear someone yell my name as I lunged forward. I felt the power raging through me. I grasped Savannah around the throat, it was like an animalistic sense took over me.
I saw her open her mouth and yell, but I couldn't hear anything, my ears were buzzing with her eradicate heart beat.
She squirmed to get away and I tightened my grip. I saw her clawing at my wrist and hands, trying to get loose.
I felt large hands wrap around my waist and heave me backwards. I lost my grip on her and went flying through the air.
I hear a loud crack as I hit a small oak tree, making it break and the top half to fall over me.
I was pinned under the tree going mad with the burning when I realized the dark tendrils were in circling me, winding through the branches that had me pinned.
I looked at Colton helping Savannah and Elijah walking toward me.
Then another horrid crack as the tendrils ripped through the tree, again, and again. I felt the weight leave my body as the pieces of the tree rolled off my body.
The buzzing in my ears stopped and all the sound rushed into my ears. Elijah whispering to me to get up. Colton soothing Savannah. And Savannah sobbing.
I frowned seeing my bestfriend upset, especially over me, but I couldn't stop it. It was like a switch flipped in me and I couldn't turn it back off.
I let Elijah slowly lift me, but as soon as my feet had touched the ground and I was stable Elijah jumped with a gasp of pain, He had a small gash across the top of his hand.
The tendrils were circling around me where he'd just touched me.
Elijah swore under his breathe and looked me in the eyes.
"Newborns are to unpredictable! I swear." yelled Colton across the space between us. Savannah was now hiding behind him shaking.
I took a step towards her putting my hand out.
But Colton got into a defensive crouch and low growl came from his lips.
It felt like I'd had the wind knocked out of me. My best friend felt she needed protecting from me.
I looked at the ground willing myself not to cry.
I felt strong hands wrapping  around me as I was pulled into and embrace.
Elijah whispered to me "You're a newborn when you're hungry it's hard to control yourself, it's okay. Colton knows, he's just scared to lose her again.." Elijah pulled back from me and hesitated before cocking his neck sideways and saying "Go ahead, drink. Quickly we must go."
I shook my head in protest, but felt the horrible burning in the back of my throat and knee if I didn't Feds from Elijah I'd snap and ta be Savannah.
I stepped up on my toes as Elijah leaned down toward me giving me better access to his neck.
I placed my hands on either side of his shoulders to steady myself. I felt my fangs protrude from my gum in anticipation.
I opened my mouth and bit into his neck. I heard a gasp of pain, but then something in my mind clicked and my veil unraveled. Elijah didn't feel a thing but pleasure.
After the burning in the back of my throat was almost undetectable I let go and took a step back.
Elijah looked a bit pale, but he smiled at me weakly. I returned the gesture and heard the sound of a throat clearing, Colton's.
"Hate to kill the mood, but we have to go." He snapped sharply.
I was buzzing, like I'd just downed seven energy drink and a shot of whiskey. I was ready for anything, I felt like I could take on the world.
I noticed Savannah move from behind Colton.
I smiled lightly she knew I had no control. She walked towards me slowly and when we were almost touching she reached out and slapped me.
I didn't even flinch because in all honesty physically it didn't hurt even an ounce, but emotionally it was a rough blow.
She smiled at me and then hugged me whispering to me "That's payback because you almost drained me." She then giggled and nudged me with her hip. I smiled lightly, relieved she understood.
I could see Colton stewing behind her and before he could say anything I threw onto my back leaving the boys to carry our bags, I was faster and even though we were running for our lives I was showing this girl what a blast it'd be when she was turned, because she would be. I'd make it happen, we'd all make it happen. I knew none of us could bare to lose her again.
I didn't notice how fast I was running until I heard Savannah's shouts. I snapped out of my day dream to listen. She was yelling, but they were screams of triumph. I laughed and yelled with her, happy to know we were all alive and making it through this together.
We all had a chance and we were taking it because our story had just began..
