SHREWSBURY, WEST MIDLANDS
Situated jst 9 mi's [E.] of the Welsh border, the historic market town of Shrewsbury in the West Midlands is famous fr its annual flower show - but not evrythng abt it lks pretty & smells sweet! The town centre hs hardly chngd since medieval times &, in 1403, the Battle of Shrewsbury wz fought jst a few mi's awy in the village of Battlefield. This bloody evnt wz immortalised in Shakespeare's Henry IV Part I. Wiv so much rich HIST., it's no surprise tht the town ain't short of a ghost story / #2.
The Royal Salop Infirmary:
The town's Parade Shopping centre wz once hme 2 the Royal Salop Infirmary whr #1 of the nurses committed suicide aftr discovering she wz pregnant. Some visitors 2 the BUILD. say they cn still feel her sadness & despair.
Today, the shopping centre hs a reputation fr bng haunted. Some of the 4M'R hosp. staff reportedly still roam the mall, YL a phantom matron tidies ^ aftr shopkeepers @ nyt. New shop tenants r PARTIC'LY vulnerable 2 the spook's interference, but aftr the 1st ur, the unexplained activity seems 2 quieten dwn as Matron seemingly accepts them.
One shop owner hd hung plaques & trophies haphazardly on the wall. OV-NYT, the arrangement chngd, so by the time he r'turned in the morn, they were all lined ^ in a STR8 row.
In a similar tale, a model-shop owner hung posted on his shop ceiling, 1LY 2 find them in tidy rows on the FLR the nxt dy!Dun Cow Steak Bar:
Housed in a traditional English pub is the Dun Cow Steak Bar. Back in the 1980's, the then-landlady, Mrs Hayes, woke ^ 2 c a hooded FIG., clothed in a colourful habit, looking IN2 her baby daughter's cot.
The FIG. disappeared, but reappeared #2 YR'S L8R, when Mrs Hayes' 2 Y.O daughter screamed @ the presence. Since then, many of the pub's visitors claim 2 hv witnessed the monk who disappears thru the walls of the BUILD..
The pub is close 2 Shrewsbury's 11th-CENT. Benedictine Abbey, & tis thought tht the monk is a 4M'R resident. Y he wears a coloured robe, howeva, is a complete mystery!Condover Hall:

Legend says it belongs 2 Lord Kyyvett, who wz stabbed by his son (thou the crime wz L8R blamed on the butler).
Aftr the stabbing, Lord Knyvett fell 2 his death, LV'ING the print on the wall. As the butler wz executed he sd, "I perish an innocent man - may those who follow my murdered Lord be cursed." Thr hv since bn no prosperous heirs of Condover Hall, so is the curse still alive?Battlefield:

The farm shop & cafe hv a resident poltergeist tht sends cups flying, & ghostly FIG'S & snds hv bn heard in the converted farm BUILD'S. Speculation is rife tht the ghosts r spirits of restless d. soldiers. But the spectral snd of monks suggests the may b other spooks @ wrk, too.
A medium sd she sensed the spirit of a woman call'd Mary in the cafe, & saw phantom airmen by the hitch. PERH. they r frm mor LATE evnts, such as WWII. We may nvr know.Did You Know?
The Battle of Shrewsbury wz fought betwn Henry IV of England & the Percy FAM, who hd support'd him in his battle 'gainst Edward II.
But when land promised 2 the Percy's wz given 2 their rivals, a PERS vendetta ensued, LV'ING Henry Percy BROWN BREAD. When rumours circulated tht he hadn't bn killed, his r'mains were r'covered frm his grave, & his bdy wz put on a spear in the town centre. He wz L8R quartered & shown around the country 2 prove the King hd won.
